That'd Be Great

Ummm, yeah... If you could go ahead and get Those TPS reports done, and turn them in by the end of the day, that'd be great. Oh and one more thing... I'm gonna have to ask you to go ahead and come in tomorrow... and Sunday too, so if you could just do that, That'd be Grrreaaatt... (Sound Familiar?? Only the greatest movie of all time, Office Space!! (Copy of the TPS Report above in PDF-really!).

It's been a busy day, I'm ready for the weekend for certain. I just thought we'd end the week with a little humor... enjoy.

Have a great weekend everyone!! Don't forget to check out all our Blog Talk Radio friends (See my Sidebar for direct links). That's Rockdog, and Yas, and still on Thursday nights, Meggy Moon.

Coffee, Games and Men

Thursday morning began by my waking up earlier than usual. I attribute this to the fact that I took the Tylenol Simply Sleep at 8:00 p.m. instead of 9 or 10 as I had been. The first two nights, I still could not wake up as planned. After taking it at 8 instead, I was successful! So afterwards, I came home and made a healthy low-carb breakfast of Turkey Bacon, and Grade A organic Eggs. As well, I put on a nice pot of strong coffee. This is the first time I have made coffee since I bought my big "ThermoServ" mug, so needless to say I was thrilled to indulge in this climactic event.

I proceeded to get ready for work, and after all that effort at making an "earlier" start, getting ready, I still arrived in the parking garage at the same time as I have been... WTF?? Where did I go wrong?? Do I have a built-in time clock now that says, "Nooo, just chill out it is not late enough for you to leave yet... Oh go the speed limit, you've got plenty of time!!" (Well, in my defense, going the speed limit has become a much better alternative to me than getting stopped by police every other day for going even 5 miles over, so I have toned it down... It's just not worth the hassle anymore).

Another thing that has attacked me lately in the great age of techno-heroin is a video game I loaded on my cellphone called "Traffic Mayhem". I innocently downloaded the trial version a few days ago, which seemed harmless enough. After the 30 second trial, it informed me that to continue I would have to buy the full version for $5.99. I have never bought a game for my cellphone before (I have bought a couple ring tones here and there, but that's all). The video-demon possessed my body and I could not rest until I was able to make "Sargent" of the traffic cops!! Greedily, I downloaded the full version, and hiding silently in the bathroom stall I played the game for several minutes. By this time, my right leg had fallen asleep and I was forced to put my progress on hold until I took another break, so I limped back to my desk with a heavy, tingling foot. "Or, maybe I can continue later, in heavy traffic on the way home!", I thought to myself. (I live dangerously, what can I say-I'm a rebel!). Only kidding about that heavy traffic bit. ha-ha.

So now, I am hopped up on caffeine and binging on a tiny, evil video game... the future of all web development could be in dire straits if something or someone doesn't come to the rescue!!! The only thing that will make me stop this madness is some sexy, Latino hunk of man. But who?? Wait a minute... It's a bird!! It's a Plane!! Is it MR. J?!?!?!--(well he's a sexy 25% Latino hunk) but NOOO!!! It's... Enrique Iglesias!!! YAY!! The future of Web Development is safe... for now. ;)

Unchained Wednesday

Meetings and agendas, work and general stuff... It's mid week, we don't have much longer before weekend time again.

Crossed the bridge on my lunch break, and jumped over into Arkansas for a minute, then came back to prepare for my 1:30 meeting. I love to get out sometimes in the car, even if only for a few minutes to listen to some music because it always relaxes me. I'll often be caught listening to oldies, or old "feel good" rock music. Today I happened to get stuck on some Van Halen.

I love original "Van Halen". I was feeling in the mood for this today, and I thought it was a good video to post for Wednesday (Hump Day)... Hope you enjoy this, and I hope it gets you over the Hump and Rocks you on to the weekend... So Stay "Unchained"!!

WWC - Urban and Country

This week's WWC was themed with the words "Urban" and "Country". Now, Urban is defined as "related to cities", and of course Country can either be a country or it can be related to living along the countryside.

For my submission, I couldn't resist sharing this unusual photo. It was taken right in the middle of Downtown Memphis, in a rather run-down looking area, amongst the bricks and the metal of the old shop, I spotted a gorgeous huge Sunflower flourishing there (such a refreshing burst of color)... which I normally only see out in a big field in the middle of the country... So once again, I share with you both theme words in one photo. However, I am sharing all 3 shots of this flower so you can get a better idea how it was located... Enjoy!

Once again, if you would like to participate with Jay, and myself then go over to Pickled Beef and check it out!

Shiny Happy Monday

Just skittering about today, I have been pretty busy but I still had time to come in and say Hi-ya to all of you guys.

The weekend was pretty nice and all, I did not get a whole lot accomplished, but on the flip side I didn't get into a big guilt trip about it either... I just rolled with the flow.

Glad you all liked my photos from the Historic Elmwood Cemetery, I enjoyed my photo-visit there and plan on going back soon... If you want to check it out, the link takes you to their main page, and you can read about it. Maybe even visit it if you ever pop through Memphis (after your maniacally entertaining visit to Graceland of course *rolls eyes*).

Oh sweet Jesus!! I almost forgot that Tomorrow is Tuesday, and nearly time for me to submit my photo for the (WWC) "Weekly Word Challenge" brought to us by the wonderful Tink, of Pickled Beef. This week's selection is themed with the words "Urban" and "Country". Wish me luck!!

I have nothing very entertaining to say really today, so I will be back tomorrow with my photo and maybe some fun stuff to talk about.

Mami Got A Brand New Tag

Desktop Madness! Look at mine and others!!

Well, I'll be a Monkey's Uncle... Or Aunt really-I was tagged by the blogging, golfing dynamo, Speedcat Hollydale who was tagged by Rolando from R playground. Speedcat is one of my newest bloglinks. He runs an interesting blog chocked full of humor and whackiness... and as you know, Auntie Jackie LOVES Whacky! So pop in and say hello to Speedo if you have time, he's a cool cat.

On to the TAG!
What’s on your desktop? (here's mine)

My desktop probably reflects me, and my unorganized personality. It has a plethora of software shortcuts, and temporary images on it that I save just long enough to use, and I either reorganize them later into another folder, or delete them if I have no more use for them. I'm on Windows XP, this is by the way my laptop desktop too-I have 2 PCs in the back too (courtesy Mr. J's mad skillz). I'm mortified by the archaic stuff Speedycat said about HIS desktop, seems he needs a nudge in the direction of fresh and cutting edge technology, but I'm usually pretty up there with the latest junk.

Furthermore, you all know how much I love this man... He is a big inspiration for me in my music and writing too, so I always have to have something "Jimi" around wherever I go... When we are at band practice, sometimes the guys look at me like I'm crazy because I might "converse" with his photo here and there... lol!! ;)

Anyways, feel free to peruse my icons and see what you think... just remember, love me love my desktop... so What's On Yours?!?

Check Out R Playground's Running List of All Participants and their Desktops!

I hereby tag:

Awesomely Aesthetic Awaiting

Cool Charismatic Corky

Supabad Cynicalicious Jay

The F..... (oh wait, I can't say that) Feckable Fab Four Dinners (sorry 4D, if you don't like the tag, spank me LOL! ;)

Mega-Jazzy Yazzy!

(ok so I started that one trying to be clever and it foiled!)

Your turn guys. Pretty please tag 5 people and all of you have to take a snap shot of your desktop as it is. No house cleaning before hand (I gave you an exact current screenshot, no editing, ugly as it was!).

[TAG STARTS HERE]
My Desktop Free View Instruction:
A. Upon receiving this tag, immediately perform a screen capture of your desktop. It is best that no icons be deleted before the screen capture so as to add to the element of fun.
You can do a screen capture by: [1] Going to your desktop and pressing the Print Scrn key (located on the right side of the F12 key). [2] Open a graphics program (like Picture Manager, Paint, or Photoshop) and do a Paste (CTRL + V). [3] If you wish, you can “edit” the image, before saving it.
For MAC users: Press [ Apple] [ Ctrl ] [ Shift ] and [ 3 ]
B. Post the picture in your blog. You can also give a short explanation on the look of your desktop just below it if you want. You can explain why you preferred such look or why is it full of icons. Things like that.
C. Tag five of your friends and ask them to give you a Free View of their desktop as well.
D. Add your name to this list of Free Viewers with a link pointing directly to your Desktop Free View post to promote it to succeeding participants.
iRonnie Rebecca Jon Rolando Speedcat Bad Auntie Jaxxx - add your link after mine
Flash me those sexy desktops!!

Sunderday

It's still Saturday in my mind, but technically it is already Sunday morning... my how the weekend doth blur together. So I am sitting here nibbling on Funyuns, watching "Are We Done Yet?" with Ice Cube and cuddling with my vereh own Kitteh (which is Yas-speak for... Kitteh). While perusing comments for addictive-like-crack MySpace, I discovered this one, which is cute and funny. It's from a website called Can I Has Cheezburger?. I know, a little goofy but it caught my eye.

128297921842657500foldkittehon.jpg

I had a nice time earlier, I got to take my Mommy shopping. I drove down, picked her up and we went to Burlington Coat Factory and she bought a new suit, and I picked up a pair of jeans and a couple of pieces for work attire. Then we went to a place to pick up some fabric for Mom (she sews, alot... and quilts). Went home, had coffee and visited a while.

Wondering where Mr. J is?? Well, he went on a guy night with his friend Gary. They were going to hang out and do "Guy Stuff" which basically means they'll consume beer, stare at Tits and Ass, and probably pass mucho gas... I think that's about the jist of the "Secret Society of Men". So he should be rolling in sometime in the next couple of hours.

That pretty much concludes what's up right now... Maybe I'll go sing some karaoke or play my keyboard. Who knows what madness might unfold! The night is young... and sleep is for ze dead.

Elmwood Slideshow

Hope this works, here are a few selected shots from the visit to Elmwood.

Grave-y Day

Today is the day! Conditions are finally just right, the weather is good, everyone's on board and we get to go over to the Historic Elmwood Cemetery to take photos finally! (the one in the pic is not mine, but it's an example) This will be fun. I am planning to post up a couple if I get some good shots later, so check back! Hope your Fridays are going well... Anyone have fun plans this weekend?

(The photo featured here is one I took of one of the many angel monuments in the cemetery)

The Son Will Come Out Tu Morrow

Celebrities and their children again... WTF?!?!

And What Name Will Phinnaeus Have For Mommy?. <--This article is a pretty good rundown of all of the hottest newsworthy celebs and the names that they have granted to their offspring (hint: Phinnaeus is the name of one of Julia Roberts' children). I'm with you guys. They shouldn't be allowed to speak in public-haha! Hey, I'm all for live and let live, I know I don't sound like it when I mention stuff like this, but hey I'm thinking of the children! They're all going to hate their parents, which they probably would anyway for more reasons than just the name that they were given. One of the names that stood out to me was one given by Rob Morrow (most famous for his role in "Northern Exposure") and his wife Debbon. Their first child, a daughter, they named "Tu Simone Morrow" (Just think on that for a moment. Tu Morrow). Wow, Great one guys.!

Funny that I had been talking about this subject in recent days because just yesterday, I read where Bruce and Demi's daughter, "Tallulah Belle" Willis, decided to change her name legally (with her parents' permission of course). I was excited to hear this news. I thought, 'She is only 13 years old, she still has time to get a whole new lease on life'. Maybe she still has hope!

Then my hopes were dashed, when she merely changed from Tallulah Belle to simply "Lula". Yes, she's going to go by Lula Willis... (Um, seriously?) Well that's a fitting name for any little girl who's 13 going on 60, right?? Can't wait for the Willis siblings (and the rest of these stars) to have children too. Just look at the photo here of Lula (sporting such a sexy dress too) with her Mom and Step-father, Ashton... I mean just wait a few years and he might leave Demi for Lula... wouldn't that be a hoot? ;)

Ok, I know I don't usually obsess over such celebrity gossip and drama, but I have just found myself in a tabloidy kind of mood lately... and it all started with the big bullshit that Britney started a few days back with her god-awful performance on the VMA awards... I'm ashamed of myself for buying into it, but it was all like a fatal collision on the side of the road, I could not look away.

Britney is starting to spoil me with all of her ludicrous behavior (Not to use your name in vain, Ludicrous as I respect you too much for that! lol). I read that after Brit's big VMA fiasco, she was booted out by her management (a professional relationship which lasted just one month!). Then she was Bounced from a Posh Restaurant for "Boorishness" (as states the article she "smashed her face in her plate of food"). I'm concerned that Brit is going to run out of ways to shock and amuse us, although she seems to be doing quite well for now.

Now I'm sure all this talk about celebrities, their stunts, their children and such has left you all wondering the same thing that I am wondering... seeing as Amy Winehouse thinks she's pregnant, will she name her baby "Rockdog Rehab Winehouse Fielder-Civil"?? Or maybe something really whacked out?? :)

Welcome to Dummyland!

Last night, I was watching The Outsiders, which reminded me of High School. This was mainly because our English Teacher, Mrs. Jubb brought in the movie and had us watch it in class one year. Therefore, over the course of probably three days, we got to dim the lights, sit back and enjoy a nice movie (sans popcorn of course, since no eating was allowed in class). Still, it was a break from the norm.

I had many memorable teachers throughout the course of my education, however "Coach Durr" stands out for many reasons. Coach Durr was one of the school's coaches, and a history teacher (why do they always have the Coaches teach History?? They really shouldn't). On any given day, you could sit back and enjoy a nice history lecture by Coach Durr, and he did know his stuff... or you might catch him sitting silently at his desk "hidden" behind a book, picking his rather large-nostrils. His teaching methods were quite interesting to say the least.

He came up with a method of seating according to grade. Let me explain. He lined the desks up along the wall in a "U" shape, with his desk in the front center of the class. Then we were organized by our Grade Point Average in his class. If you made A's, B's or even C's I guess you weren't TOO awfully worried, but if you'd worked frivolously hard and earned yourself a "D" or an "F", everyone knew it too!

If your grade was a D, you were dangerously close and if you made an "F", well you were assigned to sit in the very end section, which Coach Durr had affectionately named "Dummyland".

(See my example for detailed illustration-click to enlarge)

Coach Durr Bragged on the Kids that made A's, and smeared the A-earners' success in the faces of those residing in Dummyland... he enjoyed taunting Dummyland with the fact that they were no star student.

"If you folks over in D section don't watch out, you're going to end up in... DUMMMMYYLAANNNNDDDDD!!" he'd say with a snicker.

I've often thought about his class, and remembered it humorously, wondering if this might have permanently scarred any of the Dummyland-residents... I, myself never ended up over there but I may have cruised through C Boulevard a time or two.

No matter what your grade, there was no hiding it from your classmates... and well, as for Coach Durr, his nose picking was never concealed as much as he thought.

Here's to you Coach, as well as all those other Coaches who have been ordained to teach a subject... Remember, the things you do in the line of teaching stays with 'us kids' forever.

Rumer Has It

I don't remember how I came across something that made me think about Bruce and Demi and the kids the other day, but I just did. In doing so, I was shocked to realize that the Willis children are all pretty much grown up now (and are ecstatic I'm sure, to have Ashton K. as a step-father [s]). Of the Willis girls, the oldest is "Rumer"... I'll elaborate on names in a moment.

First, take a look at Exhibit A.
(click to enlarge for full effect!)

Ok, is it just me or looking back do you think that Demi wishes that she had selected a better father genetically than Bruce?? Look at them, I mean Demi had the wide-set jaw, but it wasn't so bad because her chin was rather small. Then comes Bruce with his face shape, jaw, chin, and somewhere, something when terribly wrong.

See any Resemblance??

I feel bad, I am not being intentionally cruel (I swear... I know, "Jackie why are you posting this if you don't mean to be cruel?). You're so right... and I know that genetics cannot be helped (although I hear that she may have even gone and had plastic surgery to fix this issue). It's just such a strike of bad genetic luck though! I can't stop staring! You have to admit that Bruce and Demi as a couple were not the most thoughtful when it came to "naming" the tots either. First of course, you have "Rumer", then there is "Scout LaRue", and then finally "Tallulah Belle". I think if it were me, I'd ban together with my fellow siblings and protest, or well I guess if they hate it bad enough, they will change their name legally.

Celebrities should not be in charge of naming their babies. However, they do continue to provide us with constant entertainment... in more ways than one.

Photuesday

Today's Tuesday photo is a storm off the bluff close to where I live... I think it encompasses Color and Change in that there is a change in the weather, and the colors of the storm are delicate, yet calming... This was intended as my entry for the photo challenge over at Pickled Beef, (am I too late??) (Jay let me know if I am not). Enjoy!

Mondays are Funky

Mondays are good, AND bad... I know they get a bad rep because mostly they loom over us like some blood-sucking, brain-eating zombie creature... but they don't have to be all bad. I've had a couple cups of coffee and I'm seeing things through caffeine-goggles... hey man, whatever it takes.
Started the day off with the Engine light coming on in my car, so after sorrowfully parting with $50 dollars for 'diagnostic services' to ensure that I wasn't about to have to overhaul the engine, I found out that it was just a loose hose... that's nice. That could have gone towards a tank and 1/2 of gasoline, or a few groceries, but Mr. Mechanic, I ain't mad atcha.

Following in with Mr. J about 2 weeks late (due to my lack of motivation and my weak willpower) in eating close to The Anabolic Diet, but I will be making some adjustments to that plan as a female. Also, we won't be eating high-fat meats and stuff, we'll be ingesting healthy "GOOD" fats, like Olive Oil, Fish Oil, Flaxseed, etc... a "Clean" way of controlling carbs... not like the old "Low-Carb" diets that looked like a coronary on a plate... so wish me luck, I'm trying to surge my metabolism, and get a kick-start to the fitness plan. We've been working out very regularly so it should go fine.

I'm missing alot of my blog friends that rarely come around anymore, Chelly from 'I Miss My Childhood', as well as "However", has been scarce... Chells hope you're doing o.k... and also "Blondie" who's site still hasn't been restored. There is Serenity, who I haven't heard from in some time--If you read this, know I'm thinking of you! Chalice and Blu you guys know I miss your visits. I know you're busy alot, but I hope that is all it is and I have not somewhere offended you (and Chalice I know you come by a bit more often it seems). As well, there are others who I know read pretty often and may or may not leave a message or comment, and that's fine... I miss all of you when you don't come by! However, you guys know I much prefer getting to enjoy your commentary, but I am not mad at you for not commenting... but I do feel a little left out when you don't... A word or two is sufficient! :)

Anyway, that's about all I have for today. Tuesdays, I'm going to begin participating in some photo fun provided by Pickled Beef, thanks to Jay for turning me on to that bit of fun... since I have my Nikon now, it will help keep me inspired.

Your assignment for this week is to continue Rockin Out Hardcore for your bad-to-the-bone Aunt Jackie... XOXO

It Ain't Me Babe

Yes, change of background... not by choice. I lost the other one. I made a back-up of this one so I guess I'm safe for now. No matter, just another symbolic display that shows things constantly change, and the things that you love can never stay (or stay as you like them)... whether they be circumstances, youth, feelings, friends, families, people, love, hate, peace, war, ideas, or dreams.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Go away from my window
Leave at your own chosen speed
I'm not the one you want, babe
I'm not the one you need
You say you're lookin' for someone
Who's never weak but always strong
To protect you and defend you
Whether you are right or wrong
Someone to open each and every door
You say you're lookin' for someone
To pick you up each time you fall
To gather flowers constantly
And to come each time you call
And will love you for your life
And nothin' more
But it ain't me babe
No, no, no, it ain't me babe
It ain't me you're lookin' for, babe
I Blog, Therefore I am
You know why I sometimes prefer to hide in the fluffy comfort of "Blogville"? Because here, you can express yourself, your thoughts, let people know what's on your mind and most of the time I feel accepted "as is". Whereas maybe in daily (real) life, here at home or in public I just feel like ripping people's faces off sometimes...
I should not have to feel guilty for having strong feelings or emotions, and I should feel comfortable to express myself whenever I want to without always feeling like I've done or said too much, or that I have made someone dissatisfied or gotten on their last nerve.
One might ask, "Why are you always blogging?" My answer... "Because there, I can smile for free."
Sometimes I just want to say "Go To Hell".
Who Are You?
People in daily life often say this, and I read blogs here and there of people who make note that they either hate what they do for a living, or they are only doing what they do because they have to in order to survive and take care of their families.
I, myself, am still relatively new in the Information Technology area, and I still like what I do very much and enjoy where as well... I'm pretty lucky. Good environment, good people.
Still, the question on my mind today is "What would you REALLY do with your life, if you didn't HAVE to?" This means, what is the one thing that you love more than anything that you would do if you could just be yourself and not have to worry about bills, babies and chains of the daily grind?
Who are you, really? I would be Oil Painting somewhere in Greece or Italy, or maybe just making my way through the USA capturing the essence of our time on canvas one city at a time... Either way, I'm a misplaced artist... (and slacker). No, Actually I'm updating this piece-I couldn't just oil paint, I would do studies in photography, and enjoy photography own its own & combined with art. I would do like Jay (Cynical Bastard he is) says he would, and travel around getting to know people and photographing them for subjects for these works of art... still art, and I would play my music on the side (this would include my poetry writing, lyric writing and writing in general too).
I want to hear from everyone... that would be really cool. TGIF and have a great weekend!
Let's Get Technical
I am drinking more and more coffee these days it seems. This is obviously a step further in my inevitable journey to become my mother. Becoming my mother, as I have said before would not be such a bad thing... she's the greatest woman I know. If you knew her, you'd feel the same way too. But I digress as usual, and the coffee slowly steals my soul.
What on earth did we really do before the internet?? I remember a life before all this online madness. It included dressing up and going out all the time, jamming to more music than watching any t.v. or internet videos, and spending more time with my friends and family... Seemed like times were so much more simple before I ever "came of age" to technology.
We can thank my husband for this gift of gadgetry I guess, he's the one who gave me Playstation, World of Warcraft, and the ride down the information super-highway. However, he was also the catalyst for my career change INTO Information Technology and Web Development, so I can't say all was lost... It beat the hell out of killing myself in the Printing Industry for sadistic office politics, backstabbing envious colleagues (like Phil, the angry proofreader) and constantly begging for plant-wide acceptance.
Things change, people change and that's life so we roll with the flow. If technology beckons, we answer... then again, we're not being forced to do anything we don't want to do, it's all on us when we follow our society's advances. But, are they really advances?
Do you think we're a smarter society now than before all these conveniences that make our lives so much "easier"? Or have we the people become dumbed down as a result... are we really that much more efficient?? I just don't know.
Today is another rainy day here in the River City, and I don't mind that at all; Except for the fact that we were supposed to
go to the Historic Elmwood Cemetery on our lunch break today and take some photos... I was looking forward to it, but game got called on count of rain. That's o.k. maybe tomorrow... I've got my internet to keep me dry and warm in the meantime.
On that note, I'll leave you with a final fun cartoon, cat lovers should enjoy. All others go on and laugh, you know you want to.
Is this what goes on all day when I'm gone??
Toilet Humor
I spotted this and I could not resist posting it. I know we have many fans of toilets, and the activities that take place in the bathroom (especially you Rockdog and Corky!).
So I have to show you this... the "Amazingly Weird Toilets and Sinks". (Warning, parental advisory as there are some overly-sexy ones lol!!)
Second runner up, was another clipmark article I almost posted:
Could Amy Winehouse Be Pregnant??. Check it out.
Cool Your Jets
Right now it is 70 degrees (F), which is roughly 21 degrees (C)... That is a fantastic thing for me. The high is predicted to be about 83 F/28 C, with a low tonight of friggin 57!! (13 C). This is such a dreamy break from the August drought and heat wave we experienced. I'm not fooling myself into thinking that it can't jump back up to 99 again next week, believe me, this is Memphis we're talking about here... but I am definitely enjoying it while it's here. Great weather to just chill-literally!
Then when it actually gets so cool that you can't help but feel that energetic "Snap" in your step, and shivers down your spine, breathing in that frosty delicious fall/winter air, that's when I'll really be ready to party! This has just been so nice, forgive me for going on over the weather. It's those little rains we've been having (finally) that we needed so much! Rain always refreshes everything, including my soul... Ahhhhhhhhh.
Oh hey, a question for any of my buddies who are fluent in spanish... is it always a term of endearment, or a good thing when someone refers to you as "Mami"? Like, "Alright Mami, see ya soon." I read up on it, and not that it was a big deal, just wondering if it is a compliment, or just a general term... It sounded sexy to me, but hey most foreign languages and lots of times accents will have that affect on me. ;)
And so it is Wednesday again, that half-way mark in the middle of the week. Our rusty Monday is a distant memory, and our dreamy friday is still floating in the horizon but it's in view. What are your plans? Anyone have anything fun going on in their area? Fall usually brings some delectable fun along with it. Around here, of course, there is the Delta Fair (which is over I think, and I didn't make it to) & the Mid-South Fair, then from our trendy Cooper Young district in Midtown, there is the Cooper-Young Festival. Then in October we have alot of Halloween related events like the Corn Field Maze, and Memphis Zoo Boo. Yep, Memphis is groovin along with the best of them I guess with events, that is if you want to brave going out to any of them without getting mugged, shot, carjacked, or some combination of crime and abuse like that.
Well I guess I will dive into this lovely Wednesday (Hump Day) and see what I can accomplish, or what I can conjure up for fun and madness today... hope yours is super-delicious as well. -AJ
Of Popcorn & Pop Princesses
There is absolutely nothing we can do anymore, it seems, that doesn't kill us or give us a disease. This takes the fun out of most activities, don't you think? I know that most of the time when someone dies from something, or gets sick, it's usually due to an overindulgence IN said activity, but still leaves the rest of us wondering 'What Next on our DO NOT LIST??'
Just yesterday I was listening to Howard, and one of their news goodies stated that there was a man who ended up with a very rare lung disease that is usually found only in people with heavy exposure to microwaveable popcorn, like working at the plant where they make it and all. However, this dude did not work with the popcorn, he simply had been eating two (2) bags of the stuff a day, every day for like ten years. Eating it wasn't what gave him the lung disease... it was (wait for it), the steam from the bag... Seems he always liked to inhale that burst of smoky steam from the bag of popcorn upon opening it, and supposedly over time, it got to him.
This sounds so strange to me, one of those freakish things I guess. I was thinking on that, and although I like Popcorn, I can't imagine eating 2 bags a day... everyone has their little hang-ups and eccentricities.
Speaking of burnouts who ran out of steam, I finally watched the very talked about "Britney" performance from the MTV VMA awards. Not that I'm shocked by this, I've never been a fan of pop-sugary-bubblegum-crapola, but she's really turned into a pathetic walking void (made quite an ass of herself too)... I think by the looks of the people in the audience, many do agree. I guess these celebs have alot of pressure on them, and I can't say exactly how I would act in the same circumstances...
I'd like to say that I would handle it all way better than the rest of these tragedies, but can't know that for sure unless I were really to walk a mile in their shoes (or slutty boots, or 7 inch stilettos... whatever the case may be). ;)
Well, I'm off to attempt to make it through a little Harry Potter... not that I don't like it, I just can't seem to get through the movies... Have a happy Tuesday.
