When Potato Salad Goes Bad

Image
I have always loved Far Side cartoons... this one about Potato Salad going bad was one of my favorites. Just the mental image of spoiled food pulling a gun gives me a giggle. Larson rules. However, bad food in the fridge is sometimes no laughing matter. I recently let some broccoli sprouts go beggin' and they tried to take the entire household hostage, guests and all. Funny thing about broccoli sprouts, they are against guns and drugs, and totally for Animal Rights but they carry tazers. It's really confusing, and a lesson hard learned. :) So anyway, yeah another make up post I did for yesterday. So sue me... not that it makes a big impact. We've had internet connection problems, which are still ongoing. The technician arrived in decent time and said our equipment was o.k., and that there had been an issue going on in our area, here and there... they were working on it. Maybe it will be resolved soon. I sure hope so, it's just agitating and it goes down at the worst tim...

Say It Isn't So

My weekend is almost over, and I haven't really done much of anything. I feel slightly unaccomplished, but not so bad. Sometimes it feels good to goof off and just watch some movies and chill. I have worked up some pretty cool recipes along with the low carb stuff. First of all, to change up a bit from the cheesecake, I concocted a low-carb type of brownie. That turned out pretty good. And then today, I cooked Chicken and Shrimp Alfredo, using Spaghetti squash as the noodles. That was quite good too. This will be my second week without sugar and bad carbs, so wish me luck! We were supposed to go a friend's party to kick off The Cooper-Young festival this past Friday night, but everything got too hectic and I simply wasn't able to make it. I'm sure he's mad at us for not showing, because it was the last time that he will really have a party there, since they have sold their house and are moving to Atlanta, but hopefully he'll forgive me. I'm feeling a bit of...

Fathers and Birthdays

Today is Z's 47th Birthday... Can't help but remember it, and can't help but silently wish him a very happy birthday. Funny his birthday is totally on Father's Day this year... I bet his Family threw a humongous gala event... at any rate, Z, " Butterflies, Zebras and Moonbeams to you... even though I doubt you'll ever read this... so the world is always in Divine order. Also, Hope all of you Dad's had a wonderful Father's Day. This is ONLY for those people who have stepped up to the plate and taken care of their children, sacrificing and teaching by example, just what it means to be a Dad... because as the saying goes, "ANYBODY can be a Father, but it takes a special man to be a Dad." Fortunately, mine is both. To the rest of the deadbeat "FATHERS" who don't amount to shit and don't care about anything but themselves, may you get everything that you truly deserve... and you all know you will one day. Life is tough, you make ...

Two Peas In A Podcast

I am a lot like my Mother in many ways, unfortunately I didn't get her striking beauty and small petite figure, but I mirror her in personality where it counts... This is my official "Mother's Day Post". Hope you all enjoyed your day, have a listen to my Mother's Day Podcast... hope you like! Powered by Podbean.com

Sunday or Something Like It

Image
(photo on left taken Halloween 1996 I think--haha!) I hope that this post finds you nearing the end or having had an extreme, hardcore fantastic weekend. Once again, as for me it was NOT NEARLY LONG ENOUGH!!! ARRRGH! As promised, I have decided to try out the voice post for you today, and I have included below, my Podcast for Sunday, May 4, 2008. Just a note, however, the set-up I used to begin with doesn't sound so great, it has a lot of noise, you can hear the microphone noises... so I will fix all that hopefully next time. Maybe it will be at least bearable... But my apologies beforehand, as the whole recording probably sounds stupid. I included a reading of the below journal entry from December 3, 1986 (I did more skipping ahead). Here is the written journal entry (read if you like), or if you would rather, then skip to the podcast and go back and try the text if you are unable to understand something. Jackie's Private Journal - Entry #36 - December 3, 1986 You know, you...

The Sunday Funday Rundown

It's raining here today, and I was planning to visit my Mom and Dad but got a late start, had to go to the grocery store first, and then cook late breakfast. With the rain (supposed to be happening all day pretty much), I'll probably put off until next weekend when I can maybe plan a better visit and spend more time. Upon returning from the grocery store, we had a "Wasp Catastrophe". While Richie and I were putting away the groceries, I spotted a wasp hanging out on the curtain. (If you never knew this about me, just know that I have an intense wasp phobia that stems from childhood and includes any flying 'stinging' type insect). "Oh F****** J**us G*d!!!" I shout, and go darting out the door. This leaves Richie looking around going "WTF?!?!". He says "W**t is it?" I scream "WAAAAASSSPP!!!!" lol Then Richie comes running out the door too. Then I pretty much tell him that there's no way I can bend on this issue, he...

It Ain't Over Til It's Over

Image
Funny Quote of the Day was brought to us by Mr. Yogi Berra - He said, "If you ask me anything I don't know, I'm not going to answer." Good Point. I hereby vow that I shall do the same! I love Yogi Berra... he had a way of saying things that gave you a smile, all the while knowing, he made damn good sense (maybe more so than a lot of others). So many great quotations by him. Another favorite of mine is this: 'Once, Yogi's wife Carmen asked, "Yogi, you are from St. Louis, we live in New Jersey, and you played ball in New York. If you go before I do, where would you like me to have you buried?" Yogi replied, "Surprise me." ' ;) So anyway, it's Sunday night alright, but the weekend isn't over just yet (unless you're one of my rare subscribers, then it is Monday)! Either way, I'm treasuring every last fleeting second. Just got back from a very enjoyable visit to my parents' house... had "umpteen" cups ...

How Great Thou Art Not

Image
I picked up a brush yesterday for the first time in years (simply too long for any self respecting creative person to admit), and I dipped it in the oil paints and I slapped it around on the canvas. I know, I already know that this is shocking to anyone who is aware that I am an artist--well I don't consider myself an artist because I have neglected it so long... but I can paint, draw, whatever... so anyway, for those of you who knew this, please don't come to me with a "Well it's about time!! Didn't you buy those paints nearly 2 years ago??" I already know, and I feel stupid enough that I haven't painted in so long, so that's punishment enough for me. However, what I ended up painting looked like something that Satan puked up, and I am totally ashamed of it. No worries, I just need to find my bearings, and find myself once again... It will come. The important thing is I got it out and tried. I was going to post a photo of it (what I have so far), but ...

What Condition My Condition Is In

Image
Who's crazy?? Of course I'm crazy... what did you think? Saw this test over at Furtheron's Blog . Pretty interesting. Of course I already knew I had "issues", but who doesn't? That is if you buy into the importance of any of the psychological conditions... I think they are conditions, but just like everything else in life, it's all for a reason, and I think the craziest people in the world have an advantage, they just happen to be more enlightened! They know something the rest don't... But that's neither here nor there. Drooling On A Sunday Afternoon

I went ahead and deleted the Yuwie post... everyone was pretty down on it, not much support going on there, so I didn't see a reason to leave the post up. However, if you ever feel like helping out, the referral link still is on the right side of my blog down there. Oh well, nothing usually works for me anyways, I just didn't think it hurt to try. Friday night we went out to "Raffe's Beer Garden" and had some Mediterranean food with Rob, Meg and my coworker Vikram. It was nice as usual there, the food is good and they have alot of beers on the list (which is what Richie likes about it). Other than that, Yesterday and Today have been grey, dreary and very boring! I took a nap yesterday, and all I have done today is have sex with my husband, eat sushi, and watch stupid Hillary Duff movies on T.V. (Yeah I know! Somebody call an Exorcist please). I'm bored out of my mind! However, I don't have much else to report so if you want, you could catch up on stuff you...

Struggling

This is technically cheating because yesterday found me unable to post, so I slid on my pledge to post every single day in November. However, I wanted to at least have a post labeled with that date so I could feel like It was mostly successful. I'll be back in top form soon. Just haven't felt well, and have been kind of trying to rest up.

Sunday Big Chill

I was planning to visit Mom and Dad today, but I opted to just relax instead and let myself "recoop" a bit from this Sinus Hell... Don't worry though, folks, I've got my menthol and my Claritin-D to keep me warm and fuzzy. However, Mr. J, our "guy on the couch" and I went out briefly to grab a little Mexican. Yeah, we just drove over to the Latina section of the city, spotted our ideal candidate who was no more than about 4.5 feet tall, and grabbed---OH I'M JOKING! We went to eat at a Mexican place down the street... sillies! I had the Enchiladas Verde, and we had a heaping helping of Guacamole with our Chips. It's a common thought that guacamole is too fattening... well, I mean it is calorically dense, and it has a bit of a high-fat content, but it's all mono unsaturated "good" fats... so you should indulge yourself once in a while if you like avocados. This doesn't mean eat an entire vat of it, but enjoy and don't deprive... ...

Ramble On

Weekend coming to a close here... I'm basically sitting back chilling while Mr. J watches yet another History Channel feature about Nostradamus. This is a good thing, especially if I want to go to bed and have night terrors. I thought I would do a Sunday night post to include some ranting and some rambling. Some of the rants, I've talked about before so no doubt will it be a repeat and probably bore some of you who read me. However, lots of times when I mention topics such as "bad customer service" and "public assholes", I get a great deal of followers who wholeheartedly agree. I mention customer service workers, once again, because over the weekend I happened to go through a well-known franchise drive-thru, and noticed more crap-assed behavior on the part of the "cheery" workers there. I make my order, they repeat it (so far so good), then I get to the first window. I noticed right away that the girl waiting to take my money keeps the window clasp...

Sunderday

Image
It's still Saturday in my mind, but technically it is already Sunday morning... my how the weekend doth blur together. So I am sitting here nibbling on Funyuns, watching "Are We Done Yet?" with Ice Cube and cuddling with my vereh own Kitteh (which is Yas-speak for... Kitteh). While perusing comments for addictive-like-crack MySpace, I discovered this one, which is cute and funny. It's from a website called Can I Has Cheezburger? . I know, a little goofy but it caught my eye. I had a nice time earlier, I got to take my Mommy shopping. I drove down, picked her up and we went to Burlington Coat Factory and she bought a new suit, and I picked up a pair of jeans and a couple of pieces for work attire. Then we went to a place to pick up some fabric for Mom (she sews, alot... and quilts). Went home, had coffee and visited a while. Wondering where Mr. J is?? Well, he went on a guy night with his friend Gary. They were going to hang out and do "Guy Stuff" which basic...

It Ain't Me Babe

Yes, change of background... not by choice. I lost the other one. I made a back-up of this one so I guess I'm safe for now. No matter, just another symbolic display that shows things constantly change, and the things that you love can never stay (or stay as you like them)... whether they be circumstances, youth, feelings, friends, families, people, love, hate, peace, war, ideas, or dreams. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Go away from my window Leave at your own chosen speed I'm not the one you want, babe I'm not the one you need You say you're lookin' for someone Who's never weak but always strong To protect you and defend you Whether you are right or wrong Someone to open each and every door You say you're lookin' for someone To pick you up each time you fall To gather flowers constantly And to come each time you call And will love you for your life And nothin' more But it ain't me babe No, no, no, it ain't me babe It ain't me you're look...

Hallelujah, Gas Is Good

Hey, I have been occupied a bit over the weekend, and haven't had a chance to blog in depth, and none of it is interesting enough to report, just another weekend around the Woods and all. So I thought you guys might like to see a return of "The Farting Preacher". Some may have seen him, some may not have. At any rate, whoever did this is hilarious... Well, I mean the preacher himself made it kind of easy but I laugh every time I see a video of this... Enjoy and hope your week is a gas!

Photo Safari

Image
H aven't been around the computer much this weekend, and I was once again without internet connection to listen in to my favorite blog talk radio hosts. I guess they hate me by now. :( However, I have been taking some photos with my new camera, a present from Mr. J, and I thought I'd share a few with you. Enjoy these and come back again later for a more wordy post. Guess I just haven't felt much like writing and have been otherwise involved. Hope you like these. These the first one is my Mother's little bird nest exactly 1 week later (there are two in there-my first photo didn't come out well). Wow they grow fast!

Ferocity of Nature

Image
Sometimes the simplest things can be intricate and dramatic when you simply stop and observe. I went to visit Mom and Dad today and enjoyed some wonderful "Coffee Talk", and while I was there I witnessed a bit of real life nature in action. Just as I was about to walk out onto the front porch, so afraid of wasps as I am, I stopped waiting for one to fly away when I observed it suddenly trapped in the web of a very small spider. I could've opened the door, and continued on at this point, but I was mesmerized by the ferocity of the wasps 'then fate'. She immediately sprang into action, zipping down close to the wasp, but then quickly scurrying back to the top of her web, waiting for the wasp to get caught up enough and in a good position for her to pounce. Back and forth she went until the wasp, in an effort to untangle himself, got even more stuck. So then she zooms down and attempts to capture him. The wasp was significantly larger than this small, but obviously t...

Sunday Hacked Up A Hairball

Image
That's right. Sunday hacked up a hairball and named it Monday... I said it. It happens every week. If there's one thing I hate it's hairballs, there's never anything good in a hairball. I'm so sick and tired of not having anything interesting to report from my weekends. I could once again repeat the numerous things I didn't accomplish, but that is just me torturing myself. I shouldn't put that on you guys. Life has gotten so monotonous and uneventful for me. I long for the magic and excitement that came with 'always getting into something' and 'never sitting still for long'. What the hell happened to me? Anyways, I'm going to try to do something about this, and I will keep you abreast of my progress and status on becoming the old Jackie I used to be. The one you guys see a glimpse of every once in a while. The person I was before I ever showed my face online, because I didn't have time to think of technology. I only had time to live l...

Sunday Blahs

The weekend hasn't been much to speak of. Rather boring and uneventful really... I didn't get to go to the Music Fest, We cancelled our Barbecue as Richie wasn't really up to it and I didn't have time to get the house in order, nothing fun happened whatsoever and now it is Sunday again and i'm staring at another long work week... fantastic. Where the hell's the magic? The only fun thing that did happen over the weekend was Friday night when Rockdog , Yas , "The Gregmeister" (Rock's buddy, who earned the nicknames "G-wad" and "Gerard"), ZigZagMan (for a while), and I (Jaxxx, AuntJackie, Jackie-whatever you call me) had the silliest, most funtastic webcam party ever!! Well, Rockdog was the only one with a webcam, so we were pretty much all acting insane and watching Rockdog pick his nose, belch and roll his eyes for the camera... nevertheless, we had a blast. Hats off to you guys, and thanks for being the only fun in my weekend!!...
