Once again I have been abusing "Tortilla Soup" (meaning I have been watching it every time I see it. I love the music. Karaoke?! Let's Go!! Well for starters, Karaoke has been on my mind lately... some friends and I have been discussing this, and there is a place that is having Karaoke tomorrow night (Thursday). She asked if I wanted to go, I said maybe but I think I should make it a definite, what'cha think? After all April 16th - 22nd is National Karaoke Week (Set for the Fourth week of April). So if I do go, what song(s) do I sing? Do I sing at all? I haven't done this in quite some time. Sometimes I'm very confident, sometimes I'm not. My voice is craaaackly at times, and I get all respiratory-itchy, and other moments, I'm all clear. We shall see. Of which I listed below, my choice to recognize is "Quirky Country Music Song Titles Day". Why? From time-to-time, I get all nostalgic and make music mixes and sometimes I find myself stuck in the 80s, a time when it was simple and still magical (for me at least, I don't need to know the cynical time it was for anyone else). Jewel was on Howard Stern's Show (on Sirius ) this week and she sang the following song, The Needle And The Damage Done (Neil Young). It was pretty haunting, sad and I've had it stuck in my head ever since. So I take a moment to think about all of the people who have loved, and lost anybody they loved to a horrible addiction or disease. No matter when, why or how, it hurts just the same, and leaves a hole in our hearts forever. Even though we know that they're safe, loved and still living on in our hearts and right by our side, watching and hearing every word, and every tear, we miss them terribly. Bikers get a bad rap... Most of them are quite nice, gentle and comical people. Motorcycles, Music, Mayhem and Mosquitoes. Does that sound like a dream? Well of course it wasn't, I wouldn't waste a dream on that. The on again off again Helena bike fest came true at last, but only a part of it was a nightmare. We should've left Friday night, but I honestly don't even want to go into Friday. I'm hoping to block that day out entirely, but so far it hasn't worked. Oooh I'm battling it this week, bouts of sadness and really really missing my Dad. (It's my blog and I'll cry if I want to). Going home is so hard these days, but I am still struggling and trying to get down when I can, and trying to balance that (caretaking of mom) with trying to maintain a non-insanity-increasing life. A couple of weeks ago, I made a very half-hearted attempt at reanimating my Strength Training routine... I lifted weights one night, and then let nearly another two weeks follow without so much as a bicep curl. So last night, I got Mr. J to write up another routine for me to try and I began again. I started out with Chest Press, followed by Bench Rows, Pull-Overs and finally Military Press. Most of these were 5 sets of 5 reps each (give or take). I am slightly sore today but for the most part, I usually get most sore the 2nd day after for some reason. However, I did drink Surge by 'Biotest' (not Surge the soft drink) afterward. That is a product that has protein as well as BCAA's (Branched Chain Amino Acids) , and the right type of sugars necessary for fast muscle recovery. It's my band, SAP , as I have said before, we're getting ready to hit up Memphis' "The Stage Stop" (Raleigh). I was having a little friendly 'comment war' with a MySpace friend of mine. We started off trying to 'out gay' each other with band photos, and then I ended up going back to funny looking 'cock rock' band pics... Such as THIS one! I have spoken quite alot about Saturdays, and how Saturday is my favorite day of the week, but Friday is a close second. In fact, Friday has a somewhat "magical" feel to it in a way, given that I am not totally swamped or stressed. Wow, that's something I never say... I love the rain. I just don't like driving in it, which is exactly what I'm about to do. Mr. J and I are going to Midtown to a microbrewery place, he likes that sort of thing. I don't like much alcohol myself, I will drink an occasional beverage, but I'm mostly the weirdo who, when asked for my drink order, will respond "UN-SWEET Iced Tea Please" (smiling). I know it's virtually unheard of in the South, but then so am I. Guess that makes us a good match! ha-ha. It's been a rather quiet after Thanksgiving weekend so far, and we normally have stuff going on Saturday nights but that got canceled. So we are going to dust up the highway through the droplets of chilly rain to see what's going on in Midtown. I have felt pretty good today actually, and have had happy thoughts of Christmas and am actually beginning to look forward to it... Hope to put some of the magic back in these holidays... I think it can be done...
