Deep In The Forrest

I was planning to visit Mom and Dad today, but I opted to just relax instead and let myself "recoop" a bit from this Sinus Hell... Don't worry though, folks, I've got my menthol and my Claritin-D to keep me warm and fuzzy. However, Mr. J, our "guy on the couch" and I went out briefly to grab a little Mexican. Yeah, we just drove over to the Latina section of the city, spotted our ideal candidate who was no more than about 4.5 feet tall, and grabbed---OH I'M JOKING! We went to eat at a Mexican place down the street... sillies! I had the Enchiladas Verde, and we had a heaping helping of Guacamole with our Chips. It's a common thought that guacamole is too fattening... well, I mean it is calorically dense, and it has a bit of a high-fat content, but it's all mono unsaturated "good" fats... so you should indulge yourself once in a while if you like avocados. This doesn't mean eat an entire vat of it, but enjoy and don't deprive... ...

We rant, we cry, and we laugh a lot here at Deep In The Forrest, but I thought I might change the pace up a bit. Today, I'm feeling lighthearted and pretty good... It's Wednesday, Hump Day, so try if at all possible to exert the utmost in safety measures while you're observing Hump Day festivities... and on that note, I thought you might need a song stuck in your head (you know, for rhythmic purposes and all). So, I was researching various songs that other people find annoying or that get stuck in their heads but they didn't quite write home to me. Then I began to think about the songs that have tortured me, you know the ones that make you want to scrape out your brain just to stop them from playing over and over, incessantly in your head. What in blue blazes causes this "phenomenon"? Why do we do this? We're like human jukeboxes with the exception that we have no power cord so we can just 'pull the switch' and shut it off. We came close to completing three whole songs last night at Band Practice. This has been such a great grouping, the four of us because we tend to write like fiends. Rich really comes up with most of the song ideas on his guitar, and then everyone works out their parts and I usually put the lyrics together along with my own keyboard parts. We have some finishing touches to do on the CD and then we should be able to start sending out some stuff. That's when everybody can actually get a better idea of it, get to hear the music for yourself... Mostly getting good reactions from our friends and close associates so far, but still I get nervous thinking about how many people are really going eventually hear it all. See, I'm pretty new to the whole recording and live gig experience. (Weddings, Open Mic Night and karaoke don't quite count I guess). Growing up, I didn't have many friends with talent. Let me rephrase that, many friends with "musical talent" and/or intere...

Understandable that everyone has extremely varied music tastes. As for myself, my mother is a huge music lover. She always had music playing all over the house. Even put a radio in my crib when I was a baby, hoping to influence me, maybe give me some talent or inspiration as she hoped that I would become the next big sensation. I never hit the 'big-time' per se, but the efforts didn't go in vain-I am a piano player, love to sing and happen to have extremely varied music tastes. Quite ecclectic tastes, in fact, ranging anywhere from Louis Prima, or Dean Martin to Al Green, Marvin Gaye to Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Lamb of God, Six Feet Under. Basically, too many to name. My moods vary daily... Today, I'm feeling a little "Prince-like". I think he's a great musician and showman... and I love the following song, "If I was Your Girlfriend."
