Too Many Ironies In The Fire

I am a sheep in the ever-growing cyber-meadow of life... I have a google homepage. I decorated it with all kinds of "cool web parts"... I get the Quotes of the day, because frankly I love quotations. I always have. I get a giggle out of some, and inspiration from others. I even write one myself here or there. When scanning my google homepage this morning, the following quote stood out to me (for some odd reason). "Write a wise saying and your name will live forever." - Anonymous Way to prove a point huh? Isn't it true though, I mean wise sayings, philosophical word vomit, it's always a hit... Some people we know already, the actors and famous folk who've spewed 'words of the wise', and sometimes it's because of the wise word vomit that said individual might get noticed, right?? I think this "Anonymous" has the game all figured out though, he or she is also quite cocky enough thinking that the "one word name" is going to ta...

Don't Believe A Word

Ta to Cappy and Four Dinners for making me think of Thin Lizzy the other day, I thought everyone might enjoy this video. I'm working on a profound block of words for the Holiday season for you to bathe in shortly, so come back and read, but for now, enjoy the gift of Music. Remember, everything is a gift... some bring us ecstatic joy, some sting a little to remind us and some hurt a lot so we can understand how to really appreciate the ecstasy.

Cold Day In July

Image
Here around Memphis, you're not likely to find the words 'Cold' and 'July' spoken in the same sentence. I was up way too late last night (but strangely, up earlier than I was even yesterday); when I was just about to go to bed, I looked at the computer clock and actually got a shock when I saw "July 1". I mean, how did it slip up on us this fast?? Entirely HALF of the year, evaporated before our eyes. I haven't had a chance to write as much as I wanted to over the weekend, but things just happen I guess, and time flies. I often wonder how "accomplished" everyone else feels. Do you feel like you are able to get things done in your spare time, you know? Make them most of time off, or your weekends?? Usually, I start the week on Monday feeling like I haven't done anything worth anything... Someone give me lessons!! Recently, on MySpace , I've talked a bit about music with a very talented former classmate of mine, who's music I found ...

Tired Like Roadkill

Image
All is well on the home front after my extended ancient aging rituals (a.k.a. Birthday celebrations). Our Gig went really well! We got a pretty good response from everyone. As I sang, I scanned the audience, and saw lots of people rocking out. There was quite an interesting mix of people there too. Even though we had already gone over our time, the club owner asked us to do one more song! She said "Rock Me!" So we did. The sound was mixed very well, and my vocals rocked... We got much positive feedback, one of the waitresses even told me she thought I sounded amazing & wished I could come and sing her to sleep (was that a pass or just a compliment? Rockdog and Zig be quiet! LOL!). Of course, we stayed afterwards for the next act so it was late when we left... Then Mr. J was supposed to be following me so I could show him the way out. I had my co-worker, Vikram in the car and Richie had his friend Kenny in the truck. I was watching carefully, when I got on the interstate r...

Subterranean Homesick Blues

Image
I'm feeling completely homesick today... I have old songs in my head, spring temperatures all around me and the smell of the warm summer grass beckoning me back home. I would like be sitting out in the middle of the pasture at Mom and Dad's house in my favorite spot there just where the pasture begins to go downhill-the best spot in the whole world, on a big fluffy homemade quilt, sketching or writing poetry, then lying back and watching the clouds roll over an azure blue sky... Just miss home so bad sometimes, miss my folks and miss pure, wild youth. Time is truly an overachiever... Yep, that's all I have to say today. Take it away Bob...

O' Christmas Family Tree

I'm still sitting here brainwashing myself (or trying to) with the 'soothing sounds of Christmas'. I know what you're thinking, "Jackie, it shouldn't be that hard to get in the spirit." Ok, well maybe it shouldn't be. It is somehow. As hard as I try to continue with my childlike spirit and immaturity, I struggle in matters of Childish heart... If I listen to the music, all it does is remind me of my Mother and make me wish I was still at home, lying on the floor in the Livingroom under the brilliance of the Christmas tree lights, listening to Mom's Christmas albums on her old stereo, she had em all and they stayed on rotation, playing... as I said, she always has music playing. I could lie for hours staring at the lights, listening to the music (Rockin Around The Christmas Tree, O' Christmas Tree, Silent Night, Little Drummer Boy, Silver Bells... etc). The temperatures this week have been pretty cold too, so that is helping some. As I said yest...

Awareness Is Good, Right?

Image
Sometimes we wish there was a little more awareness... but it's not gonna happen, let's just face facts. Still, i'm always willing to do my part... put in my 2 cents worth of "useless trivia". I know, you haven't had your dosage of useless Aunt Jackie facts in a while... I've had some half-way original and entertaining thoughts, but for the last couple of days I've been at a loss and otherwise busy getting work done. That's right, me... it is hard to believe eh? :) So let's have some awareness... The United States, being probably one of the most over-indulgent nations, maybe even the fattest-I'm not sure(?). However, once overindulgence takes over, then the time comes that a group of concerned do-gooders must step in to attempt to make others "aware" of an issue or problem. Today, is one of those fine days in the U.S. I give you: National Methamphetamine Awareness Day [my question--do I get a day off for this? And are there any...
