The Animal In Me

Image
I just love animals, they are so sweet, so cute... I am big into cats and birds in particular, but love em all big and small. If you remember, I found a dancing bird called "Snowball", and he was really cool dancing to the likes of "Another One Bites The Dust" and lots more... but I ran across this bird named "Frostie" who gave me a giggle also. He likes "Ray Charles" evidently... lol This weekend I've seen some really good ones. I met one older couple who had a gargantuan "Rhodesian Ridgeback" dog, boy was he horse-like. He nearly dragged everyone that tried to lead him. But he was a sweet, big huge baby! Then today, I saw baby kittens over at Big Tracy's house. They were so sweet and adorable. Being spring, there have been lots of baby animals everywhere, baby cows, baby horses, kittens, birdies. Then of course, I get to see my own two magnificent animals (Rodney and Sal). They make my day. Animals just love you no matter wha...

Fat Wednesday

Image
As always, I'm a day late and a dollar short, so I call today "Fat Wednesday" . :) And why not, I feel fat today, and there are plenty of fat people around the world, so it is declared. I thought about it when I saw This Article About A 44-Pound Tabby Cat (who I believe was or is up for adoption). From reading around the net, it appears that Cat Diabetes Is Becoming A Weighty Problem . So, whether you love or hate cats (or others), CHILL--all animals deserve to be well taken care of, and kept safe from harm. If you are in the market for a new pet, don't forget it is so much better to Adopt A Pet instead of buying from pet stores and all. And once you own one, keep it safe and give it lots of love and care... PLEASE! There are so many stories we hear every day of animal abuse, true horror stories. I must say that anyone who would do such cruel deeds to helpless creatures should be given the same type of justice. "Eye for an Eye" I say... whether human or ...

un-FUR-gettable Forget FUR!!

Image
I'm multi-faceted, and I know alot of campaigns go around about different stuff, but this one I just wanted to shed a bit more light on... This is senseless, and sad and cruel. I know that some of you will be touched and agree with me on this, and some will not, but realize just how inhumane the practices of the fur industry are. It's sick. I won't wear it, I won't buy it... I hope if you have a different opinion you might at least take a look and open up your eyes too. Please check out the following information... for me. It's important to me, and so are these animals. State of The Fur Industry (from Fur Is Dead) Please watch this alarming (graphic) video on a Shocking Look Inside Chinese Fur Farms , and read More About Chinese Fur Farms Here . Preview of page. Please take a moment of your time just to read and be aware. I sincerely thank you. If you can find it in your heart to care and try to help in some way, please do. Animals need all the help they can get. x...

Metal Monday

Image
I love metal music, and I love animals as you can all tell. When the two happen to come together, I think it's twice as Badass! Recently, I became aware of a Grindcore band called "Caninus", from Brooklyn, NY , who record and use their Pit Bull dogs as lead singers (To listen in, Visit the Caninus MySpace page . The guys promote animal rights and vegan lifestyle from what I can tell on their site, but I can't help but laugh when I listen... They say all they wanted to do is have fun and play music, and I can totally identify with that... the dogs are pretty cute too. Suck on that Michael Vick. Another interesting article I read was For Those About To Squawk . This one highlights a similar situation with a an African Grey Parrot named "Waldo" who sings lead for a band called "Hatebeak" . I've seen birds do some pretty crazy stuff, everything from beat boxing to head banging, and I believe they could probably head up a metal band too... this bird...

Photo Safari

Image
H aven't been around the computer much this weekend, and I was once again without internet connection to listen in to my favorite blog talk radio hosts. I guess they hate me by now. :( However, I have been taking some photos with my new camera, a present from Mr. J, and I thought I'd share a few with you. Enjoy these and come back again later for a more wordy post. Guess I just haven't felt much like writing and have been otherwise involved. Hope you like these. These the first one is my Mother's little bird nest exactly 1 week later (there are two in there-my first photo didn't come out well). Wow they grow fast!

Dog and Cat Food Recall!

Image
Please read This Press Release (pdf) , which you can download and print--It is information regarding a precautionary Cat and Dog food recall that happened to various brands of these products which were harming pets, including health problems such as kidney failure and death, so it is no joke. Also, you can Check Out This Page for More Information . I had to put this in as fast as I could, as I hope nobody has been affected by any harmful products for their animals... Even if you don't have pets yourselves, please make your friends and neighbors who do have animals aware of this so that they can prevent any possible pet tragedies. I know that not all of you are animal lovers, but that most of you are so find it in your heart to at least pass it along. Here is one news article about it. Also, Pet food recall hits home for Cape Girardeau cat owner Thanks everyone!

Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act [please help]

Image
Aunt Jackie & Aunt Tamra Need your Help! Normally, I don't try to prod you too much about serious matters on my blog, but this is important to us. You may or may not know what a big animal lover I am, but Tamra and I are greatly concerned with animal rights and cruelty. You've probably seen some of the related links to the right. However, those that have been fighting to continue helping stop fur farms, labs, puppy mills and many such similar entities, are being stopped in their tracks by the AETA (Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act). Well their bill was passed just the other day (read here) , The bill defines the 'causing of' any business classified as an "animal enterprise" (e.g., factory farms, fur farms, vivisection labs, rodeos, zoos and circuses) to suffer a profit loss , as a "terrorist" act . There is a chance to help, and I would love if any of you wouldn't mind taking a moment to sign a petition for me (Aun...
