Take It Easy

I'm sure alot of you want to know more about my other exploits with either Bryan or the Fireman... We'll just have to follow the path of my inspiration, I have to strike as they come. Going to see bands play used to be alot of fun, Tamra and I would go all out, dress to the nines and the whole deal. Once, we even had our Moms make us red velvet dresses which we wore with a red feather boa and red devil horns... I'll post that pic and story sometime soon. We had many people want their photo taken with us that night, and got lots of attention. Nowadays, sadly, it is rare that I get to go and see anyone play. I need to make a point to change that, especially with worthy acts that come to town... which for some reason has decreased in numbers in the last months and years... Nobody good comes to town much anymore. Probably because they run into too much political conflict between trying to play the FedEx forum, or finding a place to play at all, or issues with Clear Channel. How...

Knocking on Heaven's Door, and Hiding in the Bushes

We came close to completing three whole songs last night at Band Practice. This has been such a great grouping, the four of us because we tend to write like fiends. Rich really comes up with most of the song ideas on his guitar, and then everyone works out their parts and I usually put the lyrics together along with my own keyboard parts. We have some finishing touches to do on the CD and then we should be able to start sending out some stuff. That's when everybody can actually get a better idea of it, get to hear the music for yourself... Mostly getting good reactions from our friends and close associates so far, but still I get nervous thinking about how many people are really going eventually hear it all. See, I'm pretty new to the whole recording and live gig experience. (Weddings, Open Mic Night and karaoke don't quite count I guess). Growing up, I didn't have many friends with talent. Let me rephrase that, many friends with "musical talent" and/or intere...

Here Comes The Sun

Image
Well, "Sun Studio" that is. Yes, this very night (now morning), we had four of our recorded songs mixed and mastered at Legendary Sun Studio . This is my first real experience in a real studio with people who have recorded the likes of Elvis Presley, U2, Beck, Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash, B.B. King, Gene Simmons, and so many more! Not done yet--just four of our songs so far, but it's a start. Hard for me to describe what we sound like, or if we sound like anyone (maybe you'll get to hear some of it someday)... Seems to me that it is different sounding, what we're playing, but I just love music and all I know is that I enjoy playing... put me behind my keyboard and i'm happy... so is it Rock-n-Roll? Blues? Heavy stuff? Maybe... maybe all that and more... but it's not Country music (which was the ultimate dream of my Mother and Father... they baited my crib with radios and played records since before I could speak-much less sing, hoping that i'd be Nashvi...

Monday's Musical Challenge

Image
It's Monday, so I thought i'd bring you something to take your mind off of it. A puzzle... a challenge, whatever, maybe you'll like it. Maybe you'll do better so far than me. Now, you should click and enlarge the thing so you can see more detail. This is kinda tough, I know a few of the bands are in your face and really easy but some I can't do... My friend Jessie sent it to me, and I know it's been floating around so if it's overload, sorry, but I thought it might be a good Monday time-waster. If you can find them, there are supposed to be 74 bands in this pic... See what you can find. Good Luck, Happy Monday and Happy Hunting!
