Stuck Mojo

Image
I DON'T GOT my Mojo workin... I'm looking at my recent posts, and I'm not very happy with how lazy I am at writing these days. Given the state of the world and everyone stuck at home, I should be diving deep into my creative endeavors. This is the way it goes with me, back and forth. I need a muse, or some vibes that get me back into being the creative and magical child I once was. I need to be around creative types, artists again... It's tough because as things still stand, even now as July is coming to a close and we are looking down the barrel at August already (seems like we just turned the New Year), we're still isolating, keeping 'social distances' and staying away from crowds as much as possible. So we all have to push ourselves more, or self-motivate. It's not easy sometimes. Keeping this short, really... Not much to say. I have a lot of work to get done really, and things to get accomplished around here, but I miss hearing from readers. Is anyb...

It Is What It Is

Maybe I had a better night's sleep, despite the bad dream but I feel a little more energy today. The heat of summer seems to take most of my extra energy away. Fall and winter are just my cup of tea, although early spring will do nicely. No, I've never been a fan of the dog days of summer... especially not around Memphis. Just gotta sweat it out. I'm craving warm, flaky biscuits and gravy... I wish I had gone to Mom's last night and I could have eaten that for breakfast this morning. As it stands now, I haven't eaten anything yet, and I should... I've waited too long since awakening. Today I have plans to have coffee with Kim, and I know what you're thinking, 'You just finished bitching about how hot it was and how miserable you were with summer heat, but yet you will go for a coffee date?' Well, the answer is yes... Coffee does nicely any time of the year, it can cool you in the summer and warm you in winter. I got this from my Mother, and it rings...

Saturdays in Summer

Woke up wayyy too early, then we went to the grocery store and picked up a few essentials. Mostly low-carb since Richie is back on that kick again. After doing some dishes, and a few things around the house, I fell victim to quite a long nap. I guess I hadn't slept enough since I arose too early. Richie went to class, I played Wii a bit, then finished another load of dishes (yeah I had gotten quite behind this last week). Took a nice long soak too, which I am always up for. Had some supper and Richie's Brother and his wife came by after, so we watched a couple movies. Somewhere within the 2nd movie, sleep found me again. Ahhh Saturdays in the Summer heat, always looking for the cool on the other side of the pillow.

Nines, Xs and Ohs

The number 9 is my favorite number. It's also Mr. J's favorite number. Isn't that cute? It was like that wayy before I met him, so we honestly did not copy one another. Our first things in common were "9" and "Little Wing" by Jimi Hendrix. I had a baseball jersey (still do) that I wore to a party, from the radio station in fact that I worked at, with my last name and the numbers '999' on the back. His "band nickname" was in fact "9". So there you go... I thought it was interesting, and probably the most fated and romantic thing about our union to date ;) So today is 9/9/09. I think that should mean something cool, but so far the day has just been a coughing catch-up festival for me, and a work day. Still waiting for my magic portal to open. (dramatic pause, followed by the clearing of throat and a nose blow) Now what was I going to mention?? Hmmm, let me ponder... Oh yes, this was something I was going to talk about the other...

Watch The Language

Yeah, um... just when I thought I didn't have anything to blog about, I found This Video . It was an accident. I swear. I wasn't looking for any cuss words or any derelict sexual maneuvers... it just happened. I know, another post not fit for children. I never promised you a rose garden... I have my Disney moments and then I am sometimes uncontrollably wicked. You learn to love all sides of me or you **** off yeah! So it's a good idea to learn English... or is it?? lol Maybe Ignorance really is bliss. I didn't have anything else interesting to post tonight it has just been one of those routine days.

Drown and Smother

Since I was a child, I have had the occasional fever blister. Most recently, I had one like two weeks ago, and then this week (after this past Friday's extremely stressful and emotionally wearing day), I popped up with another one. This greatly distressed me, as I feel really bad on a daily basis about how I look to start with, and then to appear even more diseased with these mouth blisters makes me really go off the deep end. So I was thinking about what causes these hellish plagues. I know first off that it is already in the Herp family y'know and lies dormant in the nerve cells until it is triggered by some type of stress, or trauma to the affected area anyways... I know that sounds bad... It's NOT THE GENITAL type, of course, but it still makes one feel disgusting. Even though it is NOT, it could turn into something like that if one doesn't exercise the proper cautionary measures and cleanliness in order to prevent passing it on or having it spread. So yeah, stress ...

I'd Like To Buy A Vowel

I'm so tired today. Some hours just for me, time to myself, for myself... that's what I need. Everything is always for everybody else, I'm always running and doing and going, for everyone else; rarely me. It gets old. I won't go into it all, I'm just tired and need a break... and need some good fortune. It hasn't been optimal weather this week, nor has there been much time for motorcycle riding. I truly have been jonesing to ride. Over the past weekend, of course I spent both nights at Mom's, and of course didn't get a thing done at home that I needed to (maybe I never will get to again). But we rode our bikes down, even though it was freezing and foggy Saturday night. Even my good gloves don't keep me THAT warm in such temperatures. It was a nightmare, but at the same time it was kind of fun. Recently, Richie and I were contemplating how we just didn't do "spontaneous" stuff anymore. It's so easy to get caught up in the daily grin...

Something Fishy

Image
Just a note to say that this month of trying to blog daily for my NaBloPoMo group has been a chore. Majority of the days in this month I have either felt short-worded, or just didn't feel like posting at all... But I am trying. Haven't felt that great today, just kind of 'pmsy' and blah, I ended up bumming around and watching t.v. most of today. Nothing else was going on, so I just went with the nothing vibe. I am starving... I WANT

Crazy Little Thing

Image
I'm not really sure how this post is going to go, it's just one of those things I feel frustrated about and am going to try to let it flow. So bear with me and forgive me, as I'm sure I'll be ripped a new one for my Hypocrisy. I know I am horrible for feeling this way. All of my life, I have pretty much loathed Valentine's Day. It's sickening flowers and hearts over commercialized and people going overboard, spending and gifting due to feeling either 'guilted into it', obligated or expected that they have to do this stuff. It's ridiculous. Why buy into this idea? Why can't we just be happy each day of the year, do special little things to for one another no matter if it is a special occasion or not? It seems to me that it would mean more if a significant other were to surprise you for no reason at all, unexpectedly, on a day in say April when nothing else is going on. They wouldn't do it to make up for something they'd done wrong, or beca...

Keeping Up

Oh I seriously do not want to make a post today. I really don't. There's nothing that I feel very moved to talk about, except for feeling "burned out" on everything right now. I need to get away and have a weekend trip sometime soon, I just need to recharge my batteries... I want to. :) I'll just give you a quick run-down of the Cheech and Chong "show". When we were invited to go to this, I felt like we were made to believe that we were going to see the show, as in "free tickets" and going to actually be there. This was not the case. My husband's Mom is a member of the "diamond club" because she does a certain amount of gambling there... so she and Uncle Jorge's wife were supposed to be able to take in 2 guests a piece. First of all they had trouble with this, as the casino hosts said this wasn't the case. They got that straight, but we found out that we weren't going to be "AT" the show, but rather listening...

Where Are My Salad Days?

Image
Ahh the good ol' days... where have they run off to? Every time I start trying to live in the moment and forget the past, I fall right back into melancholy nostalgia. Saturday has zoomed by, and I hate that. I wish Saturdays would last much longer than they do. Spending the night at Mom's last night to help with Dad, upon trying to get some things done around here since I have been home it's just nearly gone. Dad being home isn't making things much better, and it's not the happy event that it should have been. He is still miserable, talking some weird stuff, you know like trying to tell you something but he calls things very odd names, seems to be talking out of his head here and there. Then since he is still on "Honey Consistency" foods because of his poor swallowing (thank you elephant tranquilizer), he doesn't like anything that you bring him. He keeps asking for "Kool-aid", or "Fruit Juice". Then when you bring him something, l...

If I Had A Nose Full Of Nickels

Then I'd be Richer than Snot, right? lol or well, at least richer than I was with a nose full of snot. I have improved some, I am still having hard nights, waking up coughing and all, but it is getting a little better. The gig Saturday night was tough. Nobody showed up of course, and the only people that WERE there were Ubee's employees and some college kids at the bar shouting "METALLICA!!!" AND "RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS!!" at us. It was a little disconcerting, but I marched on, vocally speaking. We don't play Metallica, we don't play the Chili Peppers, We're NOT a cover band. Presently we've nothing but originals in our set (this is exceedingly rare). When you're a band that is not that well known, your originals are basically considered nothing but "art", and nobody really wants to come out and hear them. "Art" does not book shows, or draw much of a crowd. Memphis is a place where people want to hear the familiar, the ...

Stuck In The Middle With You

Image
Alright so I never got to finish up my WWC for this week, o.k. I feel bad about it, but I'm way behind and I am just going to have to try for next week. At least I did offer up my husband as some comic relief. :) This is Wednesday. It's the day that I thought was yesterday when yesterday was the day before, making yesterday's yesterday only Monday when I thought it was the day after... Make sense?? Well nothing else does today, so glad you could join me. Since it is "Hump Day", maybe a little good clean fun is in order. Watch The Video , it is the Sticky Note Experiments . It is fun-looking, and the colors are cool, but honestly (hate to be a stick in the mud, but...) what about all of this paper?? is it just being wasted? Did they use the sticky notes and then maybe even recycle rather than waste or discard them? O.k., I know I should be enjoying the display only, so go ahead and enjoy... Here's The Link Again . Enjoy! In other news, last night was Band Pract...

Are We Ready?

Image
Yeah, looks like I got lazy and took another break, but it truly was still quite a busy work week for me, there have been so many issues and deadlines I've been worrying over. Not that many people are missing me, I only have a handful of regulars sometimes, and not nearly as many comments as the rest it seems, or as I would like. But I guess I have to religiously get around to comment on alot more blogs to gain them myself... Sometimes it's just hard, so I will try not to beg or complain. My blog's not that ground breaking, and it's honestly not for everyone, so I have learned from past experiences. Tonight we gig... opening up for a band called "Virginia Grant", they know how to rock out. We will probably play for about an hour. I'm honestly not really that pumped up about the gig, and otherwise, I would feel like staying in the house and vegging out in front of some movies or something. It's not the band, Virginia Grant dudes are cool, and they actua...

Tickle Fights

I'm just running out of titles again, but it brings about a good topic I guess... "Tickle Fights". Do you have them? Do you like them?? Does anybody really win in a tickle fight? Ok, talk amongst yourselves and discuss. :) Today the weather is lovely here along the muddy Mississippi. It was quite cool this morning, and the temps have been mild enough all day. After lunch, I dearly wanted a nap somewhere out in a big field on one of my mom's quilts maybe, out with my notepad by my side where I could jot any ideas down I had while relaxing under the vast blue sky... I used to do that a lot. Gonna have to on my next visit to Mom's. This morning, I slept late so I haven't gone for my cardio yet today, I feel bad when I don't go, I mean, it's funny not like I feel "guilty", I just don't feel as good physically when I don't start my day with some cardio. Can we say I might be actually enjoying it?? Hmmm, shudder to think. Well I found this ...

Say It Isn't So

My weekend is almost over, and I haven't really done much of anything. I feel slightly unaccomplished, but not so bad. Sometimes it feels good to goof off and just watch some movies and chill. I have worked up some pretty cool recipes along with the low carb stuff. First of all, to change up a bit from the cheesecake, I concocted a low-carb type of brownie. That turned out pretty good. And then today, I cooked Chicken and Shrimp Alfredo, using Spaghetti squash as the noodles. That was quite good too. This will be my second week without sugar and bad carbs, so wish me luck! We were supposed to go a friend's party to kick off The Cooper-Young festival this past Friday night, but everything got too hectic and I simply wasn't able to make it. I'm sure he's mad at us for not showing, because it was the last time that he will really have a party there, since they have sold their house and are moving to Atlanta, but hopefully he'll forgive me. I'm feeling a bit of...

Taking Care of Numero Uno

1. Me, me, me, me meee. 2. I just haven't felt in much of a writing mood over the weekend. 3. I did get alot of riding time in on "Jimi" the last couple days, which totally relaxes me. 4. There are new "things that irritate me" added to the list. (to follow) 5. I can't stand people who are watching something funny on cardio-theatre while they're on the machines, who "Cackle Out Loud" when they could simply giggle quietly to themselves. 6. I can't stand the employees (this can be other places besides the gym) who simply feel compelled to 'dust' and sweep every machine around you while you are working out. It makes me sneeze, and also makes me feel on edge. 7. I honestly have nothing more entertaining to talk about. 8. The bed is calling me, I'm tired and I am about to go to sleep. 9. Nine is all she (I) wrote.

Loco

Yeah me... There's not too much to tell this fine evening. It seemed a little cooler today, maybe. I am really just bored to death and playing around on MySpace. Been a long week, glad it's Friday and just don't have much else to say. Hope you guys all had a good week, sorry to leave you with 'Grump Day', I plan on posting more over the weekend though, instead of skipping the weekend, but it will probably be later tomorrow. I could possibly do the voice podcast again, is anyone interested in listening in to that? Holla... :) AJ PS: Don't forget this is WTF Friday .

Happy Grump Day

Image
Sure, it's supposed to be Hump Day, but honestly, I'm not 'feelin it'. I am tired, I need a vacation, I feel grumpy and irritable, and anti-social, and I just wanna go home and lay in my bed in the quiet and meditate. When I am feeling that way, I like to keep to myself. I will usually do lunch alone, try to crank up the tunes, etc. I'll block out everyone and their noise, and of course, every little noise will agitate me and get on my last nerve... Everything from the jingly-dingy-ringer on the cellphones of my neighboring cubicle-dwellers to the giggling of other cubicle-dwellers around the office. Treating myself to a tasty gourmet coffee can sometimes ease my pain up a little, or just the getting away from the office and taking a lunch time drive might help as well. Hopefully, these feelings of ill-will and general malaise will fade by tomorrow. Until then, tell me... What do YOU do on Grumpy Days??? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Later That Afte...

Tired

What to do... hmmm, weekend recap? Thursday nightmare: Richie started drinking margaritas early, after work, and an argument ensued with a good friend of mine over something that was said. It turned into a bad night, and I felt awful for this friend having to go through it since I only wanted to have a little coffee and some girl chat... But that's why I just lovvveeee alcohol. You never know what kind of hell it will put you through before the night's over. We made it through that, fortunately. I don't quite want to go into all the details of the ridiculous causes, I'm just sorry it was such a bad night for everyone involved and all. So... some other time perhaps. Friday, the 4th was spent pleasantly at my parents' house... we had a nice visit, and had my Mom's catfish... rather impromptu and doubly delicious. She cooked it on the fly kind of, and we enjoyed it, even though it was too late to eat dinner probably. It was the 4th, I deserved a little happiness......
