All Creatures Big And Small

Image
Today Is Earth Day!!! For as long as I remember, my Mother has been very "in tune" to the ways of the Native Americans. She displays so many traits of theirs, follows many of their beliefs and superstitions and really loves their philosophies and way of life. In short, the Native Americans have always been spiritually ascended, thankful and respectful to Mother Earth and its resources. They also have much to say in the ways of medicine and healing... This is where I believe my Mother gets her medicinal qualities, and I believe she has passed her medicine down to me. I give thanks to Mom and this magical universe for that. So, I am a healer, listener, a bit of a medium and divine nurturer. Those are my medicines. Take a quiet moment today to think on the following... Elder's Meditation of the Day April 22: "Each creature has a medicine, so there are many medicines. Because they are so close to the Creator, they are to communicate that medicine. Then they bring hel...

To Whom It May Concern

Image
(A Memo From Jimi) To Whom It May Concern [This means you... all of your self-absorbed, rude, greedy, thoughtless drivers on the roads and highways of this world full of increasingly endangered beauty and love for your fellow man]. What a gorgeous day it is. Just breathe in the delectable scents and flavors of nature and sunshine. Feel that cool, fresh air enter your lungs. Take the speed down a notch, enjoy the sights and sounds all around you in this multi-dimensional universe that you happen to be cruising your way through. Everywhere you look there is something to see... and if you listen closely, yes open up your ears, you can understand exactly what the birds are singing about. As the fish immerse themselves wholly in the rivers and the streams, and they swim bravely against the currant to where they know they must go, I blaze my trail, flames flying high, leaving my smoke signals behind me to lead the way. We could all arrive together in this majestic celebration. But you, all o...

Invasive Toads Getting Arthritis

Image
One more tidbit for Thursday, if you weren't into metal and didn't like the video, I found some odd animal news to share. Seems these poisonous toads who'd invaded Australia, have been paying the price in bones! "Owe my aching knees!" The article states that it might have something to do with the fact that they evolved longer bones for the extensive trip, distances for the invasion... Photo Safari

Image
H aven't been around the computer much this weekend, and I was once again without internet connection to listen in to my favorite blog talk radio hosts. I guess they hate me by now. :( However, I have been taking some photos with my new camera, a present from Mr. J, and I thought I'd share a few with you. Enjoy these and come back again later for a more wordy post. Guess I just haven't felt much like writing and have been otherwise involved. Hope you like these. These the first one is my Mother's little bird nest exactly 1 week later (there are two in there-my first photo didn't come out well). Wow they grow fast!

Ferocity of Nature

Image
Sometimes the simplest things can be intricate and dramatic when you simply stop and observe. I went to visit Mom and Dad today and enjoyed some wonderful "Coffee Talk", and while I was there I witnessed a bit of real life nature in action. Just as I was about to walk out onto the front porch, so afraid of wasps as I am, I stopped waiting for one to fly away when I observed it suddenly trapped in the web of a very small spider. I could've opened the door, and continued on at this point, but I was mesmerized by the ferocity of the wasps 'then fate'. She immediately sprang into action, zipping down close to the wasp, but then quickly scurrying back to the top of her web, waiting for the wasp to get caught up enough and in a good position for her to pounce. Back and forth she went until the wasp, in an effort to untangle himself, got even more stuck. So then she zooms down and attempts to capture him. The wasp was significantly larger than this small, but obviously t...

Strength in Numbers

Truly survival of the fittest and why I admire animals so much! Video is around 8 minutes, if you have the time it's really cool-watch it. This is to tide you guys over until I finish "Butterflies Part Five". I will be posting it today, so come back and check maybe in a bit! :)

Soul Soothing Thunderstorms

Image
Forces of nature can be so cool and calm at times, with a tender breeze, birds chirping and the sun shining, and all is calm then it can turn fierce just as quickly. For me, however-there's nothing quite like a good Thunderstorm . I love them... can't think of a better way to spend a grey, stormy day than curled up in front of a good movie, balled up in your favorite comforter with a cup of cocoa. Maybe you're lying there so relaxed during the movie, that you tune out and just listen to the rolling waves of thunder, occasionally cracking the sky, and relax even further as the intensity of the raindrops waxes and wanes, singing you to a peaceful warm sleep. Euphoria for me, whether alone or sharing the fluffy comforter with someone you love ;) Ahhh, how I love a beautiful Thunderstorm...

Fear of Falling

Imagine a world where there are no video games, no electronic gadgetry to keep you inside the house. Oh sure there was T.V., but there was no MTV, no Comedy Central, no HBO, no "Tivo to go". We watched t.v., later when we came back inside the house from a full day of braving the elements and using our real, raw imaginations. Growing up, I lived on music, love and relied heavily on fantasy to create the world that was mine... I can't think of a better paradise really. Although, others in my family don't quite remember it as magical as I do, but that's o.k. too. During the summers, or any time we were able really my nieces, Kristie and Stacey (barely just my juniors by a couple of years as you may recall) spent our time at either their house, just 30 minutes north, or at my house out in the middle of 10 whole acres... an entire universe for a kid. Their house was in a subdivision just 30 minutes north of mine, just beneath Memphis, TN, so you can imagine this felt l...
