Selfish

Image
This is a little technique I was fooling around with in Photoshop. (Click To Enlarge) Using some vector art, in this case, a little strip of "Skulls", and a photo of my face, I created this little "patterned" piece. It didn't turn out like I wanted yet, but then I am just kind of testing and getting ideas on different things I can do using this technique. So essentially, it is ME made of skulls... You can see around the edges the skulls and although it's not really "finished" I thought it was kinda cool. This is all I have for you today class, once you have studied it, you may go for the day. I will, however, be hitting you with a pop quiz between now and friday... Not sure what the topic will be lol!

Rain Down On Me

Image
It's been a lovely, delicious rainy day. I love storms, just so relaxing and sexy! Yes, I said storms are sexy... haha. I'm weird though. Anyways, a rainy day is just perfect for a good movie, and a great cup of hot cocoa... make me look forward to winter with great fervor. Today I saw this painting, which I thought might illustrate a cool rainy day well...

How Great Thou Art Not

Image
I picked up a brush yesterday for the first time in years (simply too long for any self respecting creative person to admit), and I dipped it in the oil paints and I slapped it around on the canvas. I know, I already know that this is shocking to anyone who is aware that I am an artist--well I don't consider myself an artist because I have neglected it so long... but I can paint, draw, whatever... so anyway, for those of you who knew this, please don't come to me with a "Well it's about time!! Didn't you buy those paints nearly 2 years ago??" I already know, and I feel stupid enough that I haven't painted in so long, so that's punishment enough for me. However, what I ended up painting looked like something that Satan puked up, and I am totally ashamed of it. No worries, I just need to find my bearings, and find myself once again... It will come. The important thing is I got it out and tried. I was going to post a photo of it (what I have so far), but ...

The Courage To Play

Image
I'm feeling so serious today, and I don't like it. I am of the ambition to never take myself or anything to seriously, and usually I do alright. But for today, I'm not sure what's gotten into me. I've been overly worried about things I have no control over, and letting things bother me that shouldn't. Things that are going to happen no matter what, and the thing for me to do is to learn the lessons from it, and to endure. Worrying isn't going to help, or get anything accomplished except for aging and stress. The best thing to do when we feel these bouts of worry coming on is to make some time for yourself to do things that bring you ultimate joy, whatever that is. For me, it's music and art, although I find it challenging to relax, calm down or meditate long enough to get into this, with so much "busyness" buzzing through my head. In thinking on that, I happened upon my Horoscope for today. "Instead of concentrating on your desire for pe...

Where For Art Thou Art?

Image
If You Don't Have Anything Good To Say... Then you may as well blog it, right? I have been so void of anything worthy to say for some time I feel, but I still come in and try to put something forth that gives people something to think about, or at least well, I don't know. Truthfully, I'm floundering. I'm trying to find a break in the boredom and listlessness I've been feeling. Today I can boast the most that I have accomplished is a headache from sitting in my chair too long and my eyes feeling dried out. Maybe it's time for a good cry, but I can't find anything that I give a crap-enough about to boil up those tears... lol Just a few words I guess today since I wanted to touch base with my readers, but really don't know what to talk about. I have been thinking about my art, and how I can't seem to do what I need to do lately. I, like any other mad artist or scientist, need to be locked away in a nice place with no distractions for hours or weeks wh...

Paint Jam

My drummer, Rob sent me this. It was totally amazing. At first, I had no idea what the guy was painting. I thought it looked like a dragon, or something. Then when I got to the end, I fell out of my seat. This is the sort of thing that makes me feel totally inadequate and talentless... I hope you enjoy it like I did. Seriously, you gotta watch it! On Climaxing

Image
This is something I thought was worth sharing, it is taken from an art newsletter that I receive from "Robert Genn", author of The Painter's Keys which is a great publication for artistic inspiration. I thought that today's newsletter had a lot of good things to say. It's about Climaxes--and yes, I know some of you might have different ideas about what you want that to be about today... and all Climaxes in life are good... I think this little excerpt will remind you of some things that keep life sweet... no matter who you are, artist, musician or just one who admires beauty and art from afar... On climaxing February 20, 2007 Dear Jacqueline, Symphonies, movies, plays, novels, songs--all tend to have a climax. Life and love have climaxes. Climax is one of the essential life experiences. Without climax, nothing seems to get anywhere. Climax represents the successful completion of the story, the denouement of the plot, the reason for all the effort, the snapshot at ...

The Face Of Man

Chelly put this up over at "However" , and I tried it out myself. It was a cool tool called "Mr. Picassohead" that you can use to make your very own Picasso inspired creation ... Just like Mine. I give you, "The Face Of Man"
