Normal Day

Image
Yesterday, I arrived home and I trusted my husband to actually give me a Vitamin B-12 shot. I'm not afraid of needles, just didn't really trust at first if he was able to do it, but he succeeded. Here I am, still alive. Let The Music Play Band practice went o.k. last night. Our bass player has still been having "issues", just various things preventing him from being able to function on a normal basis. So he was out again. Richie, Rob and I went on and worked through some new material, as well as a song that we began a few weeks back. I guess we made some progress, I don't know. I had lost the lyrics to one song, so I had to go and listen to the practice recording of it and try to write the lyrics back down. I made it through most of them, but there were a couple places I couldn't hear the vocal and couldn't get the words. I know, I wrote them, and you'd think they would just "come to me", but sometimes you lose words, and if it's not rec...

Grounded For Life

Image
"All the world's a cage." -Jeanne Phillips It is Monday (cubed again). My body is tired, my mind is tired, but I've got to keep moving. Old age cannot creep up on me. The years may pass, but I will stay here, just ten years old, running barefoot in the wet grass and daydreaming in the fields. I am grounded for life. Just to prove that I occasionally peek my head into the real world, I'll make brief mention that while preparing breakfast this morning I heard some of a newscast stating that Bush's approval rating has actually fallen below that of President Nixon's during the time of Watergate. No wait, let that sink in for a moment... WATERGATE!! That's powerfully shameful... The net actually states, "A Gallup Poll taken Friday through Sunday finds only 25% of Americans approve of the way Bush is handling the job of president; 70% disapprove." That gives us 25% idiots, and leaves 5 percent who just don't give a damn. It's not that I do...

Close Encounters Of The Dream Kind

Image
The alarm went off around 5:00 a.m., which is actually about 4:45 since my clock is set 15 minutes fast. The snooze allows me 30 minutes (which is probably too long for a snooze, but seems very short indeed). I read a long time ago that if you position your alarm clock away from the bed so that you have to get out of bed to turn it off, you will be able to wake up easier... So mine is on top of the t.v. Therefore, I slide out of bed, eyes still semi-closed as not to let too much light in, ease up to the clock and slap it on the snooze button. Thirty more minutes of bliss ahead. Contrary to the advice, I fall back to sleep with no problems. This happens at least 2 more times because I am addicted to hitting the snooze button. This morning, during one of my 'snooze' sessions, I slipped into a very strange dream. It took place near my childhood home (Mom and Dad's house). My husband and I were walking down the road, and it was my impression that this was early morning... as if...

Dream A Little Dream

While it's quiet and I can think (perhaps before "Mr. Inside Voice" or his cellphone gets cranked up), I thought I would try an early entry. Still slept well last night, and I did dream, but nothing 'sci-fi level' this time. It was basic, and was pretty vivid during the dreaming, but not totally detailed upon waking. In other words, I don't remember it as vividly as I dreamed it. The setting seemed to be my old High School. I was there, and some people not from MY class, but the class before me were there. We were discussing some of our other school mates. I'm not sure of the significance, maybe more will come to me later. However, I am dissappointed because I was hoping to have a really weird and vivid dream to share with you guys today. So I was planning on getting up and hitting the Gym early, but Mr. J woke up before me, and snuck in there and started playing a Video game at the asscrack of dawn. Then he wanted to wake me up later and try to go, bu...

Strange Dreams and Alternate Universes

Image
The other night I had a strange and unsettling dream, which is not uncommon really, but this one was remarkable to me in the sense that it made sense. The dream (as much as I can remember it): Richie and I were not married yet, but we had clearly been in a long-term relationship. There was this other guy, a guy who's face I have never seen before in reality, but in the dream, I knew him evidently well enough to be marrying him. So, I was engaged to this guy, and we were trying to plan wedding details, but every thought in my head was making me completely nauseous about it--I didn't have any feelings except for disgust for the guy, I was wondering why I was even doing it--and how I got involved with him and all that. It was really weird... I had a terrible feeling that I was on the complete wrong path and that I needed to turn back and fast. In the dream, I missed Richie terribly and really wanted to talk to him. I remembered our times together, and all I wanted to do was to mak...

Let's Plan Our Escape!

Image
Friday is here, and I am glad for that. I'm not going to think about how fast the weekend might pass, or what I might not get done this weekend, but rather think positively about the limitless possibilities that the hours ahead of me might hold. I'll still try to think of some great things I'd like to do before the weekend is through, and save my negative rants for Monday (where they belong). Fridays are for dreaming, and reminiscing, and fantasizing of things that make your spirit soar... so let's plan our [mental] escape, and start packing now. Take a hot air balloon ride over the fantasy place of your choice, or hope on a riverboat and see where it takes you. Today is all about you (me, you know--US!) So let's just milk it for all it's worth and enjoy! The weather is fine, and even though we're expecting rain tomorrow it would be a great day to take a long walk down by the river. Or if I had my way, and had the time and the ability to I think I would pro...
