Father's Day, I Celebrate, I Lament

Some Dads are Grumpy Some superheroes don't have capes, they are called "Dad" .  Hello, my name is Jax. I'm a real woman, one who gets mad when other women run down good men, good Dads, and try to play down Father's Day, or claim it as "Single Moms Who Had to Act As Fathers" Day. In fact, Moms get praise and attention way more often than just Mother's Day, but Fathers rarely get their well-deserved praise, sometimes not even on Father's Day. Sorry, but I know way too many extraordinary DADS (including the one I was blessed with, and I'll get to that in a minute, I digress). So NO LADIES, that won't quite cut the mustard with me. Mothers get their very own holiday, and you can wax poetic about your struggles as a single mom on YOUR day (even though we give you mad props, in all honesty, bless you all). Plus we praise our Moms pretty much every day anyway. {Sidenote: I'm honestly seeing and hearing of a lot more "deadb...

Here's hoping that all of you Dads out there are having a great day. I sure miss mine, so enjoy every moment with your kids. Make it a special one. I'm just going to leave it at that today.... oh, and with these. Ruth E. Renkel Sometimes the poorest man leaves his children the richest inheritance. He is hopelessly old-fashioned. 21 years: Oh, that man-he is out of date! 25 years: He knows a little bit about it, but not much. 30 years: I must find out what Dad thinks about it. 35 years: Before we decide, we will get Dad's idea first. 50 years: What would Dad have thought about that? 60 years: My Dad...

Daddy's Hands

This is for Daddy, my ultimate hero... Today was a hard day for Mom and Me Dad, I wish you'd been able to be there so I could've sang this to you in person the way you always wanted me to. I wish I had gone to the Grand Ol' Opry like you begged me to. I wish a lot of things, most of which is to be able to hold your big strong and loving hands just one more time. This one is for you Daddy, and all the other men in this world who have earned the right to be called "Daddy" and not just father. Love you and miss you every day and forever Daddy... Your baby. Fathers and Birthdays

Today is Z's 47th Birthday... Can't help but remember it, and can't help but silently wish him a very happy birthday. Funny his birthday is totally on Father's Day this year... I bet his Family threw a humongous gala event... at any rate, Z, " Butterflies, Zebras and Moonbeams to you... even though I doubt you'll ever read this... so the world is always in Divine order. Also, Hope all of you Dad's had a wonderful Father's Day. This is ONLY for those people who have stepped up to the plate and taken care of their children, sacrificing and teaching by example, just what it means to be a Dad... because as the saying goes, "ANYBODY can be a Father, but it takes a special man to be a Dad." Fortunately, mine is both. To the rest of the deadbeat "FATHERS" who don't amount to shit and don't care about anything but themselves, may you get everything that you truly deserve... and you all know you will one day. Life is tough, you make ...

This Is For The Dad In You

Happy Father's Day to everyone who's a "Dad". Remember, any man can be a Father, but it takes a very special man to be a "Daddy". :) Mine is top-notch, and I'm going to see him this weekend, so you guys have a safe and happy one--I'm going to sing him a song and give him a big Father's day hug... Everyone at least do something nice for your parents this weekend, if they are still with us--For those of you who's parents have moved on to the next level, don't feel bad... they're watching over you, and haven't gone far. They're in the breeze that's flowing through your hair, they're the butterflies that may light on you strangely. They're everywhere. :) Talk to you when I return.

Waking up on Saturday is always the climax of the week, no matter what you've had going on it feels great when you sleep late, and then know you don't have to go anywhere or do anything if you don't want to... That's exactly what I did yesterday. Once I woke up, I did a few things, watched a little T.V., and fell back asleep for about a 2 hour afternoon doze-fest! When I woke up, it was time to get ready for band practice... We hadn't practiced Thursday night, which is our normal night, but we wanted to work on a few specific songs for our set, so as a band we went out to eat at The Bar-B-Q Shop in Midtown, Memphis. It's top-notch if you're going to be in Memphis and want to try our fine BBQ (and yes, they have beer)! Don't be fooled by the more commercialized "popular" ones... take it from me. So we ate a nice dinner, then we practiced. Mr. J and I then went home and had a nice quiet late evening. I arrived home too late to listen to Rockdo...
