Thanksgiving Memory

Image
I've been unable to get to sleep tonight, although I felt very tired when I went to lay down and attempt to go to sleep. You see, I've been doing my Thanksgiving cooking, so maybe it's just all the memories preventing me from actually getting some shuteye. Me, Giving Y'all The Bird Right now, as I write this, it is 3:45 AM (Thanksgiving Morning). Those childhood feelings and memories of my parents have been woven into each dash of seasoning, every stir of the spoon or whipping of the batter. As I chopped, saute'd and pureed, all I could see in my mind's eye were visions of my Dad and Mom working together in the kitchen, days before and all the way up to Thanksgiving morning getting everything ready for our big dinner together.  Holidays were always exciting to me growing up because it was the only time that all of my siblings would pile in at the same time (mostly) and all the kids and we had a true houseful. I would wake up early to the succulent s...

Air of December

Image
Moving forward, looking to the future with positive thoughts, yet "living in the present", you know, staying in the NOW, that's all people preach. Don't get stuck in your past, it can only hold you back and keep you from living your life and achieving success... blab blab blab. I mean, there is truth to the fact that we need to always "live in the moment" because it is all we have in the palm of our hand, and of course have some aspirations of future dreams to work for as we do so. However, PISH POSH to the idea that reveling in our wonderful memories and keeping them close, thinking of them anytime we need to feel those feelings and remind ourselves of a thing because we need it badly, I don't think that is a bad thing, and I won't apologize for it. Do you ever panic, though, for just a quick moment while trying to remember something... something they said, a joke they told, or some significant piece if information that they shared once in a dista...

Leaning On Reality

Image
Stand by for what you might deduce as psychotic ramblings by AJ ;) Reality is a funny thing. That needn't be some hugely astounding, Nobel-prize winning statement of the century, it's just a string of characters, a few short words. What are words anyway if not all-too-commonly misused gifts of our language? Photo caption: "Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one." ~Einstein Just throw your Ego out the window for a moment and examine the phrase. " Reality is a funny thing ." (Now I'm not talking about Reality Television, which is indeed its own animal, and not much of one at that-can you taste my disdain?) Oh yes, this might leave you thinking, "Oh how can you say that? Reality is very serious indeed. Reality is dire to our existence and everyone needs to wake up and smell the coffee! We all need to be slapped in the face by this Reality , people need to grow up and learn the seriousness of how things really are in this life!!...

Crazy

Oh my god I can't believe I haven't even had time to stop and post the rest of the ideas in my head. I'm constantly blogging in my head and then if I am unable to jot these things down, I lose so much great material. Well, just poking my head in to say that I have not been able to look up. Now I have the taste of butterscotch in my mouth (even though I haven't had butterscotch in a long time, but now I sure do want some!). I will prevail, and will be here later today if not interrupted, for some well deserved ramblings!

Sure Is Friday

I'm starting this Friday post. I'm not sure where it is going to take me. I've been really edgy today, so ready for the work week to be over. I have no real plans for the weekend, but I just wanted to get started enjoying I suppose. I watched the debate last night, it was quite painful. If I heard the word "Maverick" (pronounced Meeyaaverik) one more time, I think I might have gone all "Elvis" on their ass and shot the t.v. What is with her?? Geez. I just googled the word "Maverick", and as I guessed, a news article about her pulled up first. The next thing I saw was that the definition of Maverick from Wikipedia: "A maverick is an unbranded range animal, especially a motherless calf; it can also mean a person who thinks independently; a lone dissenter; a non-conformist or rebel. The word first arose in mid-19th century America from Samuel Augustus Maverick, a Texas politician with a large ranch full of unbranded cattle. [1] " I li...

Illustration Through Words

O.k. I'm back... just felt the need to put a few thoughts down. Cool? Basically, I'm going to put this here to hold it, even though I have it saved at home too... A new poem I wrote the other day. I don't know if it will become a song, or just stay a poem. One never knows those types of things until they just "happen". Well, anyway, here it is. Your sex is like magick a dream within a dream but nothing is as it seems and youth long gone but just around the corner stalks us from behind. And the smell of youth is smoke and burning leaves and honeysuckle first snowflakes and afterbirth What is it all worth? What's real and what's surreal? Why have we created this place? What is going to take its place? Weapons of mass destruction A load of brain reduction Where do I begin? Where does it all end? Seems I'm right back where I started. Yeah I write in a weird way, I just take little 'notions' that come to me and let them have their way. I give cred...

Ramble On

Image
Dear AJ, Since you haven't just sat down and "rambled" for a while, I thought I would make the suggestion to you that you write about whatever is on your mind right now without trying to make any sense of it. It might actually help your writer's block, and also help relax you a bit. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. Love, Bizarro Dear Bizarro, Hi, I guess you are right. Who cares if I really have anything interesting to say, I should just "go with it" and let it flow. Thanks for your suggestion. You enjoy the rest of your weekend too... somehow I know that you will. Love, AJ O.k. so I talk to myself sometimes, and I even answer myself. I don't care, I know I'm crazy but maybe being crazy makes me sane! Right? At least I enjoy the conversations, which is saying something these days, when finding intelligible conversations with others is extremely rare (it does happen, and you guys know who you are). Anyways, I finished up 3 songs during my recording tim...

What Condition My Condition Is In

Image
Who's crazy?? Of course I'm crazy... what did you think? Saw this test over at Furtheron's Blog . Pretty interesting. Of course I already knew I had "issues", but who doesn't? That is if you buy into the importance of any of the psychological conditions... I think they are conditions, but just like everything else in life, it's all for a reason, and I think the craziest people in the world have an advantage, they just happen to be more enlightened! They know something the rest don't... But that's neither here nor there. Monday Off

President's Day! Yeah, and I'm off work. Am I accomplishing much of anything? That'd be a big fat "NO!" I had ideas about what I'd like to do today, maybe I will tackle some of them. It is already nearly noon, so between then and when Mr. J gets home from work, I will probably end the day as frustrated as I started it. As I said, my painting has been nagging at me. I need to just put the brush to the canvas and let it flow... will update more on that. Tomorrow is still Tuesday, even though I didn't 'technically' have a Monday (well not a bad one as usual - lol). So that means the WWC... ( If you haven't joined the fun, go here for details). Tink has set the words for this week to "Found" and "Curve". I need to get cracking on that because I haven't even started!! I do enjoy doing the Weekly Words Challenge... it's quite therapeutic. Just been feeling a little down in the dumps all weekend, but I think it is mainly ...

Foolish Gyrations

Image
I've done it again, only I tried out A Different "Random Song Title Generator" . Hey this is fun. :) And I'm feeling a little nutty, kind of like my new pen holder (don't ask who the model was). Anyways, I'm popping in early today, and on a Saturday at that! We're getting a little freezing rain, which is small reward in the name of the snow I have been begging for all this time. I am on the shitlist of the gods. I realize that now. My Karma is evidently as hot, evil and raunchy as Satan's Taint. (Satan's Taint is also a name I made up once for my husband, Mr. J when trying to think of a cool "Punk Band Name" for him to use for a new punk project he wanted to start at the time, I thought it was rather clever. Hell, can you think of any single worse place to be than Satan's Taint??) Oh sorry, I digress. The freezing rain... although not snow, if it actually ices over is reality in motion as Hell (Memphis) actually freezes over... Hell,...

I Believe I Can Fly

Image
I wouldn't try this at home, although it is one of the funniest scenes from the movie "Mallrats". Gotta love Jay and Silent Bob... and just happened to see "Clerks" on T.V. about a week ago... I don't know what reminded me to go find the above clip though... "Fly fatass fly!" LOL! I've had a long day today, and for some reason I have been edgy and bitchy as the day grew long. I went to the grocery store upon leaving work, forgetting that everyone would be at their Thanksgiving-worst. That's right, a thousand selfish, 'do unto others before they do unto you' assholes were out and about trying to pick up all their supplies for the big day. I can tell you that I did not enjoy being there. Not to mention the traffic between work, gro. store and home. Everyone's gone madder than usual. Just makes me want to hide somewhere away from all the cretins. Then came band practice. I was tired, my feet were hurting and I was edgy... It's ...

Ramble On

Weekend coming to a close here... I'm basically sitting back chilling while Mr. J watches yet another History Channel feature about Nostradamus. This is a good thing, especially if I want to go to bed and have night terrors. I thought I would do a Sunday night post to include some ranting and some rambling. Some of the rants, I've talked about before so no doubt will it be a repeat and probably bore some of you who read me. However, lots of times when I mention topics such as "bad customer service" and "public assholes", I get a great deal of followers who wholeheartedly agree. I mention customer service workers, once again, because over the weekend I happened to go through a well-known franchise drive-thru, and noticed more crap-assed behavior on the part of the "cheery" workers there. I make my order, they repeat it (so far so good), then I get to the first window. I noticed right away that the girl waiting to take my money keeps the window clasp...

Sunderday

Image
It's still Saturday in my mind, but technically it is already Sunday morning... my how the weekend doth blur together. So I am sitting here nibbling on Funyuns, watching "Are We Done Yet?" with Ice Cube and cuddling with my vereh own Kitteh (which is Yas-speak for... Kitteh). While perusing comments for addictive-like-crack MySpace, I discovered this one, which is cute and funny. It's from a website called Can I Has Cheezburger? . I know, a little goofy but it caught my eye. I had a nice time earlier, I got to take my Mommy shopping. I drove down, picked her up and we went to Burlington Coat Factory and she bought a new suit, and I picked up a pair of jeans and a couple of pieces for work attire. Then we went to a place to pick up some fabric for Mom (she sews, alot... and quilts). Went home, had coffee and visited a while. Wondering where Mr. J is?? Well, he went on a guy night with his friend Gary. They were going to hang out and do "Guy Stuff" which basic...
