Yet Another 9/11 Post

Image
It is September 11th, and I can't go without saying that today. I still feel for everyone affected by 9/11, everyone who experienced the loss and the stark change that was September 12, the day after. This is every single one of us, we have all been affected in some ways, whether it was loss of loved ones, or growth of our hatred towards another, changes in views, hopes or whatever the case may be. It definitely changed everything. In Memphis this morning, they had a 9/11 Observance and Fire Fighter's Memorial service down at the Fire Museum area. Would've seen some of that had they not moved our offices. So let me make my own observance here. We will never forget those who have given their lives helping during this great tragedy, or the lives that were lost on that day. Now, I know this is a little creepy, but I have to share it. Can't remember what drove me to run across it, but I was looking at these 10 Creepy Vintage Ads some of which are really creepy, others kind...

Another Monday Slips Away

Image
Are you wearing your green today?? It's St. Patty's Day, you need the Luck of the Irish. I've never quite understood that because I'm Irish (mostly), and I have usually had crappy luck. But don't let that stop YOU. If you're not wearing green today, consider yourself Pinched by your Aunt Jackie ;) Mondays can be frustrating, fuzzy and sometimes funny I guess. I just thought I would try to help make yours a little funnier. Here is something that mainly people who have been in Customer Support or Technical Support-type roles will totally understand: These calls usually come in on Mondays... Helpdesk: What kind of computer do you have? Customer: A white one... Customer: Hi, this is Celine. I can't get my diskette out. Helpdesk: Have you tried pushing the button? Customer: Yes, sure, it's really stuck. Helpdesk: That doesn't sound good; I'll make a note ." Customer: No ... wait a minute... I hadn't inserted it yet... it's still on my ...

Studio Daze

We recorded about 6 or 7 tracks on our new CD last night, got drums and bass down for them... that's the beginnings. My "recording booth" happens to be the restroom at our Band Rehearsal facility... lol!!! "Coming to you live from the bathroom in Memphis Tennessee, is our very own Jaxxx!" ha-ha. It is to laugh... however, we're luckier than most, other bands are paying out their asses to record. We are lucky enough to have a drummer who has the production know-how, and equipment to save us all that dough, and the mastering we have connections on too. This is going to be a big CD! Today, I'm tired though, and I'm going with my friend Kim to the Metaphysical fair just for kicks... Who knows, I might learn something. Laterz. (I'm going to update the post later with photos, check back)

Have A Sporkin Day! (WWC)

Image
I can't believe it, but I've won an award over at Picked Beef (Thanks Tink!) I was a little late finding out because I got busy yesterday and/or kept getting interrupted. Very cool... it's the "Golden Spork Award", and she gave it to me for "Inspiring Blogger". This is a great honor Tink, and it means alot!!! Anyways, today is the WWC again... yep Tuesday already! This week's words are "Soft" and "Square". Ok, so in an attempt to be sly, and put both words into one, I baked a big batch of gooey soft chocolate brownies, and I was going to take a photo of them for this but unfortunately I ate the entire thing on the way to pick up my camera. I'm JOKINGG!!! GEEZ!! I'm not that much of a chocoholic ( or AM I! ) No anyways, here are my pics this week, and as always I enjoy playing WWC with you guys... Enjoy! Soft & Square (some are both!). This cake looks very soft as my nephew sticks his baby-soft face into it for the fi...

Let's Have Coffee, It's Friday!

Image
Seriously, if you like coffee, and are not drinking a cup right now, then take a moment to brew a pot... Go ahead. Stop and get yourself some coffee. Then come back. If you don't like coffee, have water, soda (whatever you like). [pause] Alright then. Well, we've made it to Friday. It's been a better day today than the rest of the week, I feel my energy returning. I can't explain it, just haven't felt very energized at all this week, and my friend Kim stated there was some shifting in energy going on around us these days, so if anyone else has felt this way--It may be one of the reasons! But today, my calm and relaxation is coming back... I don't know why. Once again I have found that my horoscope for today was odd in retrospect... I don't know what's going on with that. But it's really weird: Explaining yourself to others isn't just a one-day event; you are interesting in being understood better by those close to you now. Unfortunately, it...

Dream A Little Dream

While it's quiet and I can think (perhaps before "Mr. Inside Voice" or his cellphone gets cranked up), I thought I would try an early entry. Still slept well last night, and I did dream, but nothing 'sci-fi level' this time. It was basic, and was pretty vivid during the dreaming, but not totally detailed upon waking. In other words, I don't remember it as vividly as I dreamed it. The setting seemed to be my old High School. I was there, and some people not from MY class, but the class before me were there. We were discussing some of our other school mates. I'm not sure of the significance, maybe more will come to me later. However, I am disappointed because I was hoping to have a really weird and vivid dream to share with you guys today. So I was planning on getting up and hitting the Gym early, but Mr. J woke up before me, and snuck in there and started playing a Video game at the ass crack of dawn. Then he wanted to wake me up later and try to go, but I ...

The Assorted and The Purple (WWC)

Image
Tuesday finds me loping along, making it through the week. After the scare with my Mr. J on Sunday night , I still find myself a bit on edge. I know it wasn't the worst-case scenario, but I guess it just threw me into that frame of mind. Since we've been through so much with my Father's health, I guess it just makes me think about things we all have to go through with situations (health and otherwise) as we screech down the mad timed highway. Gotta keep remembering the great things we have to be thankful for day to day. Speaking of Tuesday, well that makes it time once again for the Weekly Words Challenge (WWC) brought to us by our friendly neighborhood Tink of Pickled Beef . This week's words as stated by Tink, are "Assorted" and "Purple". I'll waste no time, let's cut to the chase. Purple: Well, first I thought the sign on this local Mexican restaurant was cool, it's purple ! Secondly, another one of Downtowns interesting Trolleys, also...

Sleeping With The Enemy

Image
Maybe if I lived with a man who awoke at the crack of dawn to greet the day with great fervor... maybe I would be able to wake up alive and bursting with energy. Instead, I must peel my eyes open daily, drag myself out of bed only to have to look at the man I love, still lying there cozy and hibernating like a bear in the dead of winter under the warmth of the delicious electric blanket. See, I detest waking up in the morning (aside from the general glee at the realization that I am still lucky to be alive come daylight). I usually sleep too long... which is as long as I can get away with, then I have only enough time to bathe and throw myself together and hurry off to beat the traffic and come hurdling into the office Fashionably Late (if I may say so, as a 'techie' without sounding dimly like a slacker). Luckily, I enjoy what I do so it's definitely not "work dread" keeping me glued to my mattress, it's just simple exhaustion and lack of motivation from lyi...

No Sweat, It's Hump Day

Image
We've made it to Wednesday, and so far-so good on my daily posting for November for NaBloPoMo . I was reading about Wednesday on Wikipedia , and found the following: An English language idiom for Wednesday is "hump day" a reference to making it through to the middle of the work week as getting "over the hump" (as most everyone knows already). It is also informally referred to as "the peak of the week". Another popular tradition in the United States is to wear a sweater vest on this mid-week business day. This has led Wednesday to be referred to as Vestday. Woah.. wait a second: A "sweater vest"?!? Did I miss the memo on this one? I haven't seen anyone in a sweater vest since maybe Dr. Cliff Huxtable in the Cosby Show? Even then I never liked sweater vests... Just something about them. Still, I have never heard this thing about "Vestday"... I've only heard of "Hump Day". So in honor of hump day, I'll give y...

Ramble On

Weekend coming to a close here... I'm basically sitting back chilling while Mr. J watches yet another History Channel feature about Nostradamus. This is a good thing, especially if I want to go to bed and have night terrors. I thought I would do a Sunday night post to include some ranting and some rambling. Some of the rants, I've talked about before so no doubt will it be a repeat and probably bore some of you who read me. However, lots of times when I mention topics such as "bad customer service" and "public assholes", I get a great deal of followers who wholeheartedly agree. I mention customer service workers, once again, because over the weekend I happened to go through a well-known franchise drive-thru, and noticed more crap-assed behavior on the part of the "cheery" workers there. I make my order, they repeat it (so far so good), then I get to the first window. I noticed right away that the girl waiting to take my money keeps the window clasp...

Tuesday Scone

Image
I haven't alot to say this fine Tuesday. The WWC took alot out of me. :) That's o.k. though, I enjoyed it immensely. If you want to participate, just follow my 'Link to Tink', and find out what to do... The only other things on my mind this week are how people seem to continue getting "assholier" by the day. (Present company accepted though! You are all wonderful... those of you who haven't banned me, which is all of you except one sour-ass). Also, Lemmy's moles are still alive and well. In fact I for some reason never noticed the 2nd mole until I was watching a documentary on Metal, and happened to zoom in to see the second mole... Almost as mighty and nasty as the first, but not quite. It's like Lemmy's mole's assistant or something. I wondered to myself if these horrible looking growths have ever prevented Lemmy from getting laid... do you think?? Eeeek. Lastly, I have been really fighting the sugar cravings lately. Trying not to do so b...

Mami Got A Brand New Tag

Image
Desktop Madness! Look at mine and others!! Well, I'll be a Monkey's Uncle... Or Aunt really-I was tagged by the blogging, golfing dynamo, Speedcat Hollydale who was tagged by Rolando from R playground. Speedcat is one of my newest bloglinks. He runs an interesting blog chocked full of humor and whackiness... and as you know, Auntie Jackie LOVES Whacky! So pop in and say hello to Speedo if you have time, he's a cool cat. On to the TAG! What’s on your desktop? (here's mine) My desktop probably reflects me, and my unorganized personality. It has a plethora of software shortcuts, and temporary images on it that I save just long enough to use, and I either reorganize them later into another folder, or delete them if I have no more use for them. I'm on Windows XP, this is by the way my laptop desktop too-I have 2 PCs in the back too (courtesy Mr. J's mad skillz). I'm mortified by the archaic stuff Speedycat said about HIS desktop, seems he needs a nudge ...

Mondays are Funky

Image
Mondays are good, AND bad... I know they get a bad rep because mostly they loom over us like some blood-sucking, brain-eating zombie creature... but they don't have to be all bad. I've had a couple cups of coffee and I'm seeing things through caffeine-goggles... hey man, whatever it takes. Started the day off with the Engine light coming on in my car, so after sorrowfully parting with $50 dollars for 'diagnostic services' to ensure that I wasn't about to have to overhaul the engine, I found out that it was just a loose hose... that's nice. That could have gone towards a tank and 1/2 of gasoline, or a few groceries, but Mr. Mechanic, I ain't mad atcha. Following in with Mr. J about 2 weeks late (due to my lack of motivation and my weak willpower) in eating close to The Anabolic Diet , but I will be making some adjustments to that plan as a female. Also, we won't be eating high-fat meats and stuff, we'll be ingesting healthy "GOOD" fats, ...
