The Monday Report

Future Real American Hero ! I Believe The Children Are Our Future... lol My little nephew Blade is quite a kid, he's only 2 yrs old but he already tries to drive everything, and there isn't anything that he doesn't think he can tackle (and he tries!) The photo above was taken at 'home' when I visited Mom the other day. My niece and her husband were there, he was helping do some yard stuff for Mom, and Brandy had the baby there. So of course he was a handful and needed close observation. If nothing else, so that he wouldn't run out and try to follow his dad on the tractor while he was trying to do the bushhogging. That would've been a nice disaster to start the week off right. However, once his dad finished up, he did give him a ride on the tractor, which seemed to make him happy enough for the moment. Please note that he got up on this piece of machinery all by himself, no lie. He also attempted to crank it, but his efforts were thwarted by his dad very qui...

Let's start today's post off with a little "funny". My friend Kim e-mailed this to me earlier today, and I got a kick out of it. They joke about children's spelling, but who knows... these days the kid could've been really serious and meant what he said. ;) Make sure to proofread your children's homework! (click to enlarge if needed) I began thinking today about how we as a society have all relaxed so much as far as taking care of ourselves, and dressing appropriately and gracefully... most of us rarely, if ever, make ourselves truly "presentable" when we go out. When my Mother was growing up... things were just different. Jeans were what you wore when you went to chop cotton, and for the field only. This is the school she still subscribes to even now. After all she has been through, and how old she is, my Mother will never leave the house unless she is fully dressed with make-up on, looking picture perfect (in my book). It's sad nowadays to ...

If I Had A Nose Full Of Nickels

Then I'd be Richer than Snot, right? lol or well, at least richer than I was with a nose full of snot. I have improved some, I am still having hard nights, waking up coughing and all, but it is getting a little better. The gig Saturday night was tough. Nobody showed up of course, and the only people that WERE there were Ubee's employees and some college kids at the bar shouting "METALLICA!!!" AND "RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS!!" at us. It was a little disconcerting, but I marched on, vocally speaking. We don't play Metallica, we don't play the Chili Peppers, We're NOT a cover band. Presently we've nothing but originals in our set (this is exceedingly rare). When you're a band that is not that well known, your originals are basically considered nothing but "art", and nobody really wants to come out and hear them. "Art" does not book shows, or draw much of a crowd. Memphis is a place where people want to hear the familiar, the ...

*Announcement (mainly for family): My Aunt Lorena's husband Dave passed away in the early hours of Sunday I think. His hospitalization due to Alzheimer's Disease, and also Pneumonia took their toll. Visitation is Wednesday from 10-12 and the Services begin at 12:00 Noon, so if you're going in support of Mom or Aunt Lorena, or want to send anything, contact Mom for the details. Not that you are expected to, or were going to--just FYI. I will be going to the funeral basically to help Mom get there, and also to support Aunt Lorena. on to today's 'things-n-stuff'... Why is it that every day in this city brings me 'that much closer' to throttling those around me? I meditate, I slack when I can and need to, I take deep breaths, I play my music, I ride my bike in the wind, and still I find my fingertips aching to tap the life out of some of these idiots. A few examples I suppose, for this lovely beginning of a new week. 1. One thing, and albeit this is minor: Y...

Cruel Cruel Summer

Although it has been a slight bit cooler lately than it was last week, summer is still hanging around like the biggest loser at a party where people have given "having fun" their all, but are all about to give up and go driving home plastered (but not quite plastered enough) all because of 'that annoying loser' who ruined the night. It's just time for a season switch. I'm ready... I couldn't be more ready for fall. I've been going through these blah's, ills and down-low's often lately, which I attribute to the weather and the season, but maybe it has just been a tiny bit of 'blog burnout'. Almost like 'Montezuma's Revenge" for bloggers. (Yeah, probably a bad analogy--ooh that was almost like 'anal' haha!!) It happens to us all, and I am just not one to totally give-in and take the BIG BREAK that some opt to. I continue to hang on, and try hard to think of something to post, afraid of giving up, or maybe afraid if I ...

Singin The Blah's

Image
No need for that APB, I'm alright. I know I've been 'AWOL' since Friday, which is unusual and also breaks my "Post A Day" pledge for May, but I just couldn't make it this time. Friday night, we had all night company and events that kept me up way too late and for some reason I felt like I had a hang-over Saturday, and I hadn't drank a drop. I blame Mr. J. It was his persistence and antics that caused the whole event as well as the late hour. After the long tiresome week I had, I was in great need of going home Friday night and "defusing" quietly, and having time to myself, but he had already planned the day before I could even speak up, so we had kids, in-laws and so forth... I made it through, although I was not able to record Saturday as planned because of how badly I felt. I had a headache and spent the entire afternoon draped across my keyboard and stool, half asleep, either that or on the floor and eventually in my car for an attempted ...

Para todo mal, mezcal, para toda bien, tambien!

Image
¡Hola! If you do or don't know Spanish (I don't really, well maybe a few choice words), I will let you know what the page I snatched the above title off of says that this means... Literally: "For every ill, drink Mezcal (type of liquor), For everything good, as well". LOL! I'll drink to that (well, I don't drink much, but if I did it would more likely be a good Tequilla. I can handle Tequilla... not sure why. That is quite fitting, since today is Cinco de Mayo ... the Fifth of May. Celebrate, or don't... But I still wish all of my blog pals and Spanish (as well as non-Spanish speaking buddies), a very Happy Cinco de Mayo. If you are expecting half-naked Mexican women, then this is the wrong blog... however since I do enjoy helping my fellow men (or women if that be the case), I'll direct you over to Cynical Bastard (Jay's Blog) . Now, he is the one to go to for the hot gals. I can't really think of any sexy male Mexican actors really so... her...

Monday Off

President's Day! Yeah, and I'm off work. Am I accomplishing much of anything? That'd be a big fat "NO!" I had ideas about what I'd like to do today, maybe I will tackle some of them. It is already nearly noon, so between then and when Mr. J gets home from work, I will probably end the day as frustrated as I started it. As I said, my painting has been nagging at me. I need to just put the brush to the canvas and let it flow... will update more on that. Tomorrow is still Tuesday, even though I didn't 'technically' have a Monday (well not a bad one as usual - lol). So that means the WWC... ( If you haven't joined the fun, go here for details). Tink has set the words for this week to "Found" and "Curve". I need to get cracking on that because I haven't even started!! I do enjoy doing the Weekly Words Challenge... it's quite therapeutic. Just been feeling a little down in the dumps all weekend, but I think it is mainly ...

Land Of The Crazy Bat

You guessed it. Another title from the Random Titles To Stimulate The Imagination page. haha I know, I'm on a weird roll... whatever. I was thinking of posting a video today, but then I got mad at myself for "copping out" and taking the easy way of posting a video. I hate when I feel void of anything interesting or worthy to say. I know this is blogging, and not every post has to be pure gold, but I like to at least feel like I put a little of myself out there and at least remotely entertained or made you guys think. I got mixed reviews about the 'ball sack pen holder' from my last post. I'm sorry, I just couldn't help myself it was hilarious looking to me. I'm thinking of getting Mr. J to pose for a ball sack pen holder, but if I do rest assured that it will blow that ball sack out of the water... the man has an admirable ball sack. ((giggles to self)) I know what you're all thinking, nobody's ball sack is more attractive than ball sack, rig...

Chasing My Tail

Image
Stay tuned, here's my ideas, thoughts, you know... the Monday blurb. I don't think I'm ever going to mature any further, and I don't believe that I was ever really meant to be domesticated. I always feel that wild hair to go running, screaming naked through a big field... in the middle of nowhere. (Not literally, I guess I mean that as an analogy for feeling restless and wild all the time). I know this would've never been great news to my family, who worries when someone doesn't settle down and manufacture the chitlins. Well, I was rolling along quite well (so I thought), hit a speed bump, rolled off Life's highway and landed on the alter, oddly after I turned 31. We've never started a chitlin business, and I don't really plan on it... I don't see anything wrong with that, I don't feel that parenting is for everyone. I also think the world could really use more people who actually give parenting great thought as opposed to just irresponsibly...

Testing, Testing... Is This Thing On?

I trust you're all having a pleasant Monday. 'Pleasant Monday', you say? 'Is there such a thing?' Well, Mondays (or your equivalent first day of any given work week) can always be trying, but it's all what you make it... like anything else in life. We have to stop and remind ourselves, possibly daily, to take it just one step at a time and enjoy each and every moment. I've decided that we're going to have a Pop Quiz. That's right, it's Monday and I'm giving you a Pop quiz. Aren't you glad I wasn't your teacher? :) So take out your pencils (in this case your pencils are your computer's "mouse" devices), so that you can answer today's Monday Test. Once you've gotten your results, come back and tell me how you did. Go Here for Monday's Test In other news... Mr. J and I have planned our 2nd Annual October Trip to Hot Springs, Arkansas. This upcoming weekend. This time, I will be armed with my Nikon, so no worries...

Whole Lotta Monday

Image
Mm mm mm.... M&Monday--Oops I think that was a typo, still, don't you want some M&M's now?? They're so chocolaty and delicious! Peanut, Plain or Peanut Butter, even with Almonds now right? Just a delicious little melty bite of chocolate. It truly does melt in your mouth, not in your hand! :) Anyway, chugging through Monday again... the weekend was not too bad. Rockdog didn't have a show this week, but Yas had hers . Unfortunately (and apologetically), I didn't get to listen in... so sorry Yas! Anyways, maybe this next Saturday. Rockdog's cousin, "J-Bone" is going to be testing out drinks, so get over and suggest a recipe, and he might just try it out on the air!! I am unable to think of anything inventive, but I haven't given up hope just yet. So that's Blogtalk radio news, for now. I've heard it said, if you're feeling irritable and everything is going wrong for you on a Monday that you have a "Case of the Mondays"....

Musical Monday

Hey guys, I'll be pretty busy today... I'm going to try and concentrate and get a good bit done. I thought instead of "Mute Monday", that Mondays would be a hell of a lot better when set to music. Even better when it's set to the tune of Joan Jett and the Blackhearts' "Cherry Bomb". Hope you all had a fantastic weekend... do tell! Meanwhile, turn it up and Rock it!!

Blue Moan On Monday

Image
How about that Full Moon last night?? OOoooohhhhh God it's Monday again!! (Ok, that is my official moan). Looking back, I felt quite more enthusiastic last Monday, but don't worry. My spirits are not dampened! If you are reading this, then I trust you have made it through to another one unscathed as well... or at least I hope so. I have a couple things for today, one is the song that I have been stuck on since yesterday. Now please don't make fun-I know that some people love Rod Stewart, and some may hate him. I'm neither here nor there, but yesterday afternoon, I began playing the song "You Wear It Well" over and over until I could sing the lyrics to this song perfectly. I don't know why this tune struck my fancy, it just did. I was even thinking it would be cool to do a cover of it. Unfortunately, Rod doesn't wear it well. Secondly, I am curious about something. In your work place restroom, do you have a "Favorite" stall? If so, will you ...

For Reasons I've Forgotten

Image
"It is not how old you are, but how you are old." - Jules Renard Has the bad moon phased away? Has the smoke cleared? I awoke this morning, albeit with a crick in my neck, but with a strangely amazing great attitude and feeling. 5:00 a.m. and we headed to the gym, did some cardio (neck still barely turning). I took some Advil, hoping it would loosen the tightened muscles or whatever was causing the pain to my neck and shoulder. Still, I felt so good which is totally unlike me facing a Monday morning. (I mean seriously, "Monday" AND "morning" too?) Maybe it had something to do with the fact that we ate healthy most of the weekend instead of totally blowing our health regime. Then again, maybe it was the fact that I went to bed early enough not to wake up feeling like a zombie on heroin. I don't know, I just know that I am starting it out well today. I know this is good news to a lot of you, who have begging of me 'more positive' outlooks and w...

The Monday Report

Image
Weekend zipped by fast, probably due to our gig at Kudzu's Bar & Deli, which went pretty well. Once again, my band, "S.A.P" would like to thank Kudzu's very much for having us there, they are always very cool. The weekend, oh let's see... Friday night, after work, Richie and I headed out to a little Mexican place which was nice. Relaxed a little, he had a few brews, we came home and just goofed off at the house the remainder of the night, and I had thoughts on preparations for the next day because we were supposed to be taking band photos before the gig, and I had tons to get done (I thought so anyway). So a friend of Richie's came by for a while. That pretty was pretty much it for Friday night. Saturday, I wake up around 11:30, or close to Noon, take the normal amount of time to completely "wake up", which consists of checking e-mail, having a bit of breakfast, zoning out for a bit. Then I threw myself together to venture out shopping for cloth...

Sunday Hacked Up A Hairball

Image
That's right. Sunday hacked up a hairball and named it Monday... I said it. It happens every week. If there's one thing I hate it's hairballs, there's never anything good in a hairball. I'm so sick and tired of not having anything interesting to report from my weekends. I could once again repeat the numerous things I didn't accomplish, but that is just me torturing myself. I shouldn't put that on you guys. Life has gotten so monotonous and uneventful for me. I long for the magic and excitement that came with 'always getting into something' and 'never sitting still for long'. What the hell happened to me? Anyways, I'm going to try to do something about this, and I will keep you abreast of my progress and status on becoming the old Jackie I used to be. The one you guys see a glimpse of every once in a while. The person I was before I ever showed my face online, because I didn't have time to think of technology. I only had time to live l...

Of Fox And Hound

Image
Hope your weekend was great! I just thought I would start off Monday by sharing with you 3 candid shots of Mr. J enjoying a nice brew (they're just cam phone shots, so they're not the best quality). Does this make you beer-fanatics thirsty on a Monday?? :) **Coming tomorrow, Aunt Jackie's mischievous adventures with motorcycle men send her screeching down the highway...
