The Monday Report

Future Real American Hero ! I Believe The Children Are Our Future... lol My little nephew Blade is quite a kid, he's only 2 yrs old but he already tries to drive everything, and there isn't anything that he doesn't think he can tackle (and he tries!) The photo above was taken at 'home' when I visited Mom the other day. My niece and her husband were there, he was helping do some yard stuff for Mom, and Brandy had the baby there. So of course he was a handful and needed close observation. If nothing else, so that he wouldn't run out and try to follow his dad on the tractor while he was trying to do the bushhogging. That would've been a nice disaster to start the week off right. However, once his dad finished up, he did give him a ride on the tractor, which seemed to make him happy enough for the moment. Please note that he got up on this piece of machinery all by himself, no lie. He also attempted to crank it, but his efforts were thwarted by his dad very qui...

Out Of The Closet

Image
N o worries here gentlemen, Aunt Jackie (a.k.a. "AJ", a.k.a. Jaxxx a.k.a. just "Jackie") is a straight girl (so far) with of course skeletons in her closet, none of which, however, are homosexual. She has all manner of friends, though, just for the record, quite a few of them have had other sexual orientations, and that's fine. Nobody messes with my friends, no matter what race, creed, culture, or orientation they might be. This post, oddly enough, is not about sexual orientation, though, but more about music that might be considered "gay" in a totally different way (no matter what your orientation). It's about sappy love songs (one in particular) that I might have fallen victim to, and admittedly have enjoyed on different occasions for various reasons. As I consider myself an avid and eclectic lover of many types of music, but Punk, Rock and Metal above all others, so you can see why I am timidly approaching mentioning the following. Guess I bett...

Dies Lunae

Semi-quick little weekend update(s): Saturday night's gig went off without a hitch on our part, and it was nice to get out for a change and hang at the Stage Stop , and hear some other bands too. As I may or may not have said, I elected to do a keyboardless set due to our time constraints and just to see how much more "relaxed" I could be and I really have to say that I enjoyed it immensely, so I might make some permanent changes. Of course not to leave keyboards out totally, but I might set-up next time where I can run over and play a song on the keys, and then have some where I just sing at the mic and can go back and forth instead of feeling awkward behind the keyhboard during a song where I don't play. So it was quite a late night, as it always tends to be when we gig, but I'm glad this week will be sort of a let up from last week's hectic schedule in preparation for the gig. I can take a deep breath and feel a little lighter (mentally speaking). Other tha...

Spinning Me

Image
We went back to our old gym again. It's larger, has more amenities, and it is cheaper. We still like to try to go in before work and grab a good cardio workout, so this morning I forget that Mondays are "Spin Class", and they group all of the little bikes used for "Spinning" over in the corner. I thought getting away from them would help, but the overzealous "Murial Hemmingway-esqe" teacher shouted, "Woo-Hoo'd" and chanted loud enough, still, to ruin my morning workout. Once I made it through that, and all the eye-rolling and under-breath cussing, I decided to hit up the "Hot Box", or Sauna for some heat and relaxation. It was not long before some incessant "Clanker" began clanking around the bathroom, slamming doors, and flushing toilets and having unnecessarily loud conversations around the shower area. I have to wonder... "Why Me?!?!" It's like I attract the clankers and the clackers and stompers and t...

Mama I'm Coming Home

Image
Well, "The Chick Magnet" rides again. Back into his own Barnyard he goes! How happy he will be. Yes, they're releasing Daddy this morning, and he is going home. That doesn't mean he's in the best of conditions of course. But he's strong enough and out of the water enough to go home where he is happy and comfortable. We all believe that he will thrive his best in his own surroundings where he is most happy. Yesterday they started him on "Honey Consistency" foods that he seemed to swallow best, which he will continue at home, and as he is stronger and more able, we can gradually have him back on normal foods. So good news, for now... and all I have discussed previously still stands. I know that everyone has an "exit time" and will have to eventually hit the trail and bid us "Adios", but for now, I am happy to have a chance to watch maybe just one more "M*A*S*H* Marathon" with my Daddy. Thanks again to everyone for their su...

Thirst

Image
Here's the latest "Daddy Update" just real quick, I won't go too detailed because I'm tired of talking it out more or less, but just wanted to give y'all a little run-down, and some thoughts. First off, I can't help but feel like we've been in a soap opera. As you run around the hospital, in and out of the cafeteria, people come by that you know. Just like "As The World Turns" or "Guiding Light" always seem to center around people meeting up with one another in the hospital somehow... Very odd. Seems one of my other classmates from High School had her father in on another floor for the exact same thing as my Dad. I found that odd. Then I saw my old crush Bob's Mom (Bob from my "Motorcycle Madness" story). He finally found Mrs. Right in the last few years, but then lost her to Breast Cancer. Irony huh. Another funny? Back when I saw him last he only had 1 daughter. His mom said he had 6 children (dodged that bullet I ...

Updates and Downers

I'm in for a moment just to check e-mail, check my work queue and catch up a bit around here. Dad has been fairing "ok" during his hospital stay, as far as, the swelling going down a good bit, and his breathing treatments seem to be doing some good. However, his condition has been a serious one, and I only hope he can recover and regain some strength back. For those of you who have sent sweet notes of support and love, you are so appreciated. Thanks from my whole family. Meanwhile, I'm still not sure how long his stay might be, and I will continue to keep things posted when I am able. Last night they gave him some sedative that made him sleep way through breakfast and lunch, so he has not eaten yet today. I tried to stay around long enough to get him to eat, but he was too "out of it". I was worried about that. Perhaps they gave too strong a drug or too much? You never know in the hospital. I will be going back tonight to check in on him, and try to make sur...

Ebb and Flow

Why? Why does it take so long to recover after a trip? We got back in gear Monday and still I feel behind. However, I'm working on it. I am trying to make it around to visit each of you slowly but surely. Last night, we went Camping in my Mom's backyard. We were supposed to camp and cook out around the 'fire ring' in the back near the pond, but it didn't pan out that way. So I did not get to 'roast weenies' or make 'smores like I wanted. It's cool, since it is summer we still have plenty of time to sweat and have fun. I took pictures of the tent and where we had it in the back yard, I guess Mr. J and I are not so good at 'roughing it'. We took an extension cord and plugged in the laptop to watch movies... yeah we're pansies... lol! Anyway, it was still fun hearing the crickets and listening to the sounds of the beautiful night. I was totally SLATHERED with Avon's "Skin So Soft", which is extremely effective in keeping you fr...

Shiny Happy Eras (WWC)

I can't possibly inflict upon you the kind of day I have had, nothing life-or-death, but on the Stress-O-Meter, or the Ridiculometer, it would be way out of normal range. I don't go too much into work details here on my personal pages, but I'll just say when the skillet gets hot, everyone definitely makes sure that they don't get 'popped by the grease'. Everything lands on the little guy, who gets shoved right up front. And as my Father always said when people pointed their finger at him, "Don't point that at me, it's got a nail in it!" Enough said I suppose... besides, the chips will fall where they may. Today was the Weekly Words Challenge, with Tink . It is always a pleasure to participate in the WWC, and this week I am still working towards my submissions due to the issues and heaviness of my workload. Also, I wanted to gather some special photos from Mom's house for the "Era" part, so I need to touch those up and get the slid...

TGIF Once Again

Yeah it's Friday, Yay. I'm not excited about it... what's there to look forward to. Just following along with everyone else's schedules and plan, and meanwhile trying desperately to hang on to what little identity I might have managed to save of myself. Always on someone else's clock... tick tock, tick tock... Feel like I can't stop the ride to get off and find my way back sometimes though. Oh real quick, I had visited over at Ole Blue The Heretic's Blog , and he always has interesting and cool poetry... He had a Haiku, so I thought I would give one a try myself. Here's my Friday Haiku!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Friday had arrived Madness fell upon her face Goodness goes to waste ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Anyways, I'm waiting to hear from the mechanics, so I can pick up my molested automobile, and get back to work in the same garage and hope that they don't simply come and do it again! Stupid worthless assholes. On a nastier note, I had multi-grain cereal for...

We've Got A Lot Of Living To Do

Image
I don't have the time right this second to go back to each post and reply on all comments you guys have left me since my Dad has been in the hospital, but I will address you right here in post. The kindness, and thoughts that you've all shown truly amaze me. Just when I lose most of my faith in the Human Race as a whole, I am floored to know such wonderful big-hearted people. All of you have taken time to send me e-mails, leave me comments and also have me in your thoughts and prayers (where applicable), and I want you to know that it has meant the world to me and made all the difference to my family. You're the Whipped Cream at the top of my Starbucks White Chocolate Mocha... lol So, Wow! This has been quite a tiring week, and we've been wrapped up in our own little world being in and out of the I.C.U. with Daddy. Still, all the time I'm sorely aware that life goes on and our responsibilities don't just fade away because of our little wrinkle in time... I'v...

I.C.U.

Image
My Father is in I.C.U., where they wanted to keep him through today, so they could watch the condition closely. His cat scans did indeed show bleeding on the brain, and he had hit his head with the fall. They weren't completely sure whether there was already some bleeding in the brain and that might have contributed to the fall, or whether it was just from the fall, but they considered that it was serious. So far he's doing ok, and the swelling seems to be going down. As long as that goes down completely and the bleeding stops it should be good... if anything happens otherwise, or there is a need for surgery it could be serious given his diabetes, age and conditions. It looks hopeful though! I appreciate your wonderful thoughts, prayers and support through the situation, and so does my family. I guess after they're done with him in I.C.U., he'll be moved to a room, and I hope his stay won't be too long. He longs for his big screen T.V. and his "TV Land" ch...

Brief Update

Image
I heard back from customer service. In a nutshell, they basically told me how to delete my account, and that the only permanent way to delete it was to let them know and they would delete it manually. They didn't offer any assistance or advice about the main thing I was upset about, which was the login problems. I guess they were basically letting me know that they did not need my presence and to "go ahead and delete, see if we care!". Just goes to show you nobody really cares, until payday that is, about Customer Service. I know, I was in the wrong because I got the whole login thing screwed up in my head, but gee. At least try to help me when I'm distressed! 8-O At any rate, remember that tomorrow is once again the WWC (Weekly Word Challenge with "Tink"). If you want details on how to participate, go here . This week's words are "Old" and "Blue". That's about all I have to report for a Monday, so pop back pop back in tomorrow...

This Week's Events

Image
Just making a quick note of a couple of things... First off, Meggy Moon has changed her Toon!! :) She has moved her Meggy Moon's Crazy talk Radio Show to THURSDAYS (same time, 6:00 p.m. Central)... hopefully you guys can make one of her shows and give her a call in... Second, Memphis in May is kicking off and the first weekend (this weekend) is the Music Festival. This yearly festival begins setting up when May starts and of course this clutters up traffic for the entire month. Still, there are some good events and I hope to make it to some of them. This year they are honoring the country of Spain . I'll post updates as I have them available... Meggy Moon Show, New Day (Click pic for more information!)
