A Time To Chill

Image
The election is over, we had a winner by both popular and electoral vote. People have spoken, not all of them one particular "race", and for many different reasons and personal beliefs. The months ahead for our new president and our country will be very tedious and trying times, and he will have a huge job ahead of him, trying to bring about the changes he has spoken about, as well as gaining further approval of the American people. We all know this. Although the election itself is over, I wanted to share this article. I think it makes a lot of good points about the behavior of the American people regarding whether they do or don't like certain leaders, and how we react and treat one another in regard to this. Whoever Wins, Chill A Bit The truth is, we have a new president who will take office in January, and we need to pull together as a nation, and support each other, our leaders, our country and its military. It doesn't mean we have to agree on everything, and it ...

Grounded For Life

"All the world's a cage." -Jeanne Phillips It is Monday (cubed again). My body is tired, my mind is tired, but I've got to keep moving. Old age cannot creep up on me. The years may pass, but I will stay here, just ten years old, running barefoot in the wet grass and daydreaming in the fields. I am grounded for life. Just to prove that I occasionally peek my head into the real world, I'll make brief mention that while preparing breakfast this morning I heard some of a newscast stating that Bush's approval rating has actually fallen below that of President Nixon's during the time of Watergate. A lthough Memphis is well known for its great musical history and talent, the city is not devoid of its political history, or dark times. The south itself carries a reputation for racial strife, and in some parts of the south it still runs high. But make no assumptions, whether you know it or not, racial tension is not just in the south alone... it can be witnessed in many other places in this world. At any rate, as I mentioned in my other post below, today, April 4th is Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial day. I was not around when Dr. King was killed, of course, but its effects are still all around me, in song and in remembrances of our city and its vast history. I Invite You To Read Jink's post for today, entitled "Who Can Handle The Truth?" , which shows us Dr. King's death among other political events at the time through the eyes of one 11 year old girl. I found it to be very moving, as I think you will too. It all makes you think... and wonder... what IS the truth?...
