Deep In The Forrest

I'm winding down, but it took a while for the buzz of being on stage to wear off. The sound was mixed much better tonight, and I feel like it went really well. Miss Nita was quite complimentary of our sets tonight, and she didn't give me any extra 'stage advice' tonight. Plus for the first time, our band collected some "door fee". That's a big deal because so far we have played for free trying to get our name out there! Very cool. Anyways, we only had one other band to play with us, so we had two (2) sets tonight, first one we played 9 songs and then took about a 20 minute break, and had a second set wherein we played another 7 songs and we were done. I was more "loosened up" I think, and felt more comfortable... Not a huge crowd, but then I didn't expect there to be a ton of people for some reason the day after July 4th. Was a fun night nonetheless. I'm starting to be quite aware of how much of my material speaks of death and destruction...

Well, I have been trying to find a moment to come over and hang out with you guys for a few but It is Friday and I have been busy this week. Wednesday night, my Mother-In-Law had a severe allergic reaction to like her Blood Pressure medication, and her mouth and tongue was so swollen that her teeth were bleeding... She was taken to ER, and they had to do some sort of surgery, ending with a breathing tube until they could get the swelling down. She spent the night in I.C.U. and came home late Thursday afternoon. Thursday, after all that, Richie and I rode our Mountain bikes for a while, and went for Sushi... that was tasty. Then we tried to hit the sack early to get up and work out a bit this morning. If anyone here is a Black Sabbath fan, then you know the stories, and you know the players. Yes, other than Ozzy , none other than Ronnie James Dio at one time was the vocalist. So many of these dudes have been around vocally, more than you realize. I was shocked and awed to accidental...

So, it was only fitting that the bands would book a big show down at a tattoo shop downtown formerly called "The Inkwell". The Inkwell had been the setting of quite a few shows, since it had the space, turned out to be a semi-popular setting for it. On this particular night, they had scheduled an event which consisted of a big group of bands, all anxious to play their gig. We had a good crowd going that night too, most bands have their 'regulars', friends and/or family that tag along so the scene was set for a good show. However, as most people who have been a part of bands, or dealt with bookings you know that if you're set to go on at 9:00, you probably end up playing sometime closer to 11:00.
