Thirsty

Image
For those of us who are a slave to the grind, we've almost made it through another work week, that's a great blessing! For those of you who don't have to report to anyone for your paycheck, well it's another beautiful day, so enjoy! Richie went back to work today after Monday's oral surgery, still felt a bit loopy he said but all-in-all it has been a swift recovery. I'm glad... I did the best I could to take care of him. So the weekend is in sight, and I'm trying to think of fun things to do. It's so hot weather-wise, and I don't mean to complain but I hate feeling sweaty and smelly. I like being pleasantly fragrant and sassy. Nothing much to report otherwise, so I will let you go with a few cute graphics about the heat, one of which I stole from BBC's blog again (he always has the funniest cartoons). So there you go. Happy Thursday. v

Thursday's Child

Who doesn't love Bowie? I give you... "Thursday's Child".

Tickle Fights

I'm just running out of titles again, but it brings about a good topic I guess... "Tickle Fights". Do you have them? Do you like them?? Does anybody really win in a tickle fight? Ok, talk amongst yourselves and discuss. :) Today the weather is lovely here along the muddy Mississippi. It was quite cool this morning, and the temps have been mild enough all day. After lunch, I dearly wanted a nap somewhere out in a big field on one of my mom's quilts maybe, out with my notepad by my side where I could jot any ideas down I had while relaxing under the vast blue sky... I used to do that a lot. Gonna have to on my next visit to Mom's. This morning, I slept late so I haven't gone for my cardio yet today, I feel bad when I don't go, I mean, it's funny not like I feel "guilty", I just don't feel as good physically when I don't start my day with some cardio. Can we say I might be actually enjoying it?? Hmmm, shudder to think. Well I found this ...

Gimme A Sign

Image
So I walk into the gas station/convenience store right around the corner this morning, only to read their "no shoe/no shirt" policy sign for the 100th time. It reads "Must have shirt, shoes and pants on before entering". Then I noticed at the bottom, scribbled in, it said "Pants Must Be Pulled Up". I thought, JEEZ! What is it coming to? I have seen so many funny signs here and there because you know SOMEONE is running around with their pants around their knees, or doing some crazy stuff that caused people to have to write up a special sign. O.k. well good luck to my local convenience store with that, I hope they have some success with it. This is the same convenience store that someone drove their truck through the glass door in an attempt to rob a few months back. It's everywhere isn't it? No place is sacred and relaxing anymore. Well folks, I'm keeping it short today, just not feeling overly-wordy (much to your dismay I'm sure!) However, ...

It's My Thursday and I'll Cry If I Want To

Image
Geezuz what a night! I'm nearly exhausted again... like I'm doing more work, or more activity in my sleep than I actually am during the day the last few days. On dreams? I dreamt alright... I will get to that in a minute. Today's Dictionary.com "Word of the Day" is: defenestrate : to throw out of a window . That's a pretty interesting I thought... and you just never really know when it might come in handy at some point! Next, I enjoyed the "Quote of the Day" on my Google homepage. It is: "Laughter and tears are both responses to frustration and exhaustion. I myself prefer to laugh, since there is less cleaning up to do afterward." - Kurt Vonnegut I love a good cry though, it is cleansing to the soul, and refreshing to me. Not a bad eye wash either. I try, however, to do my crying in private, if it must be done. Mr. J is too weak to handle female human emotions most of the time, so he must be spared. Laughter, laughter is even better. No...

Blister In The Sun

Image
Yes it is another hot one today boys and girls. The steam is rising from the streets, the road rage is running high and the mosquitoes are lining up for those juicy buffets. Speaking of pests, whatever bit me in Arkansas (I suspect it happened at the botanic gardens), really yumped me up. I have 3 bites. The two on the front of my shin are better, but the one on the back is still quite ugly. I thought they were ant bites, but they're really strange. Maybe they'll go away soon. Along with ugly bites, I have been plagued with outbreaks of random acne lately... guess it's the teenager in me trying to break out (literally). I had a big fat pimple right between my eyes about a week ago, and now I have a nice plump one on the bridge of my nose. It sucks. Last night, Richie and I took our mountain bikes out and went to a local lake area. We found a nice little spot that was non-human-infested, and rode around and enjoyed ourselves for a couple hours, then went by the grocery store...

Blame It On The Rain

This morning, I could barely drag myself out of bed. It took all I had. Then the rain poured down all the way to work, I just took back roads... I always do. I never need much of an excuse to take the long way. Now, to top it all off the whole morning has been tough to take. I'm feeling anti-social. Everyone is having "impromptu meetings" in which they have no place else to stand except for behind my desk, and using their conference call option so I have had an endless stream of action and noise going on around and behind me today. I really want to escape. I could've done very well laying at home in my bed listening only to the sounds of rain. Storm on Mother Nature!! Storm on... I found this relaxing, someone's video to Led Zeppelin's "The Rain Song"

Nothing

Giving this another try... Nothing but blankness There's nothing I want to say Silence is golden

Stormy Weather

Image
Another bad storm is supposed to be happening today here in Memphis. As if the river wasn't flooded to the hilt already. The high winds, possible hail & thunderstorms, and maybe even tornado warnings... so if you're in an area that is affected by all the severe weather, then be as safe as possible. This will be short and sweet today, as I just don't have much of anything to say. Since we're still keeping with the NaBloPoMo April theme of "Letters", then I will just say that letters are even better when they're edible. Gummi letters... MMMMM!!! Have a tasty Thursday!

Love Letters

Image
Today, I'm keeping it simple... and in keeping with the April NaBloPoMo Theme of "Letters" , I thought I would dig back into Music's grand archives and present some Classic songs about Love Letters. 1. Elvis Presley - Love Letters (Straight From Your Heart) 2. Patsy Cline - Love Letters In The Sand There you go, hope you enjoy those. Not everyone enjoys older music, I am pretty eclectic myself. I say you can't be a musician of any substance without studying and at least "giving respect" to our musical forefathers. We wouldn't be anything without them. Lastly, it's not really Friday (since it is Thursday), but Thursday happens to be my 'technical Friday' this week, since we have the MLK holiday tomorrow... the City-observed holiday. So 3 day weekend for me, for everyone else, T.I.N.F., eh? Don't forget, participating in NaBloPoMo, I have to post daily throughout April, so I'll be here every day, posting something. Whether you are h...

Ponder For A Moment

Sent to me by my cousin Jerry... Ponderisms... Can you cry under water? How important does a person have to be before they are considered assassinated instead of just murdered? Why do you have to 'put your two cents in'.. But it's only a 'penny for your thoughts'? Where's that extra penny going to? Once you're in heaven, do you get stuck wearing the clothes you were buried in for eternity? Why does a round pizza come in a square box? What disease did cured ham actually have? How is it that we put man on the moon before we figured out it would be a good idea to put wheels on luggage? Why is it that people say they 'slept like a baby' when babies wake up like every two hours? If a deaf person has to go to court, is it still called a hearing? Why are you IN a movie, but you're ON TV? Why do people pay to go up tall build...

Too Many Ironies In The Fire

I am a sheep in the ever-growing cyber-meadow of life... I have a google homepage. I decorated it with all kinds of "cool web parts"... I get the Quotes of the day, because frankly I love quotations. I always have. I get a giggle out of some, and inspiration from others. I even write one myself here or there. When scanning my google homepage this morning, the following quote stood out to me (for some odd reason). "Write a wise saying and your name will live forever." - Anonymous Way to prove a point huh? Isn't it true though, I mean wise sayings, philosophical word vomit, it's always a hit... Some people we know already, the actors and famous folk who've spewed 'words of the wise', and sometimes it's because of the wise word vomit that said individual might get noticed, right?? I think this "Anonymous" has the game all figured out though, he or she is also quite cocky enough thinking that the "one word name" is going to ta...

Lovely

Can't think of a better word for today than Lovely... It started off o.k., 2nd day in a row that Mr. J and I woke up and had our workout (not THAT you perverts! Went to the Gym!!). Then I was running fashionably late as usual, got behind every asshole that happened to be driving around this morning, and then hit a poor innocent bird with my car... I was changing lanes, he flew across, couldn't be helped... I was sad. But the rest of the day, I've felt light hearted and upbeat since I had lunch with my best buddy Tamra, and her daughter Jess... We don't get to lunch often, so we always enjoy the opportunity. Thanks again guys! Then I got back from lunch, and had the supreme pleasure a call from one of my favorite English blog family members, Four Dinners (and his sweet daughter, Jax) . They sounded so delightful, and we discussed all of the fun New Year's plans that everyone's got in store. I'm sure they got a giggle out of my accent as well. He just celebrat...

That Mob Mentality

Ok, I'm stuck in my "Mobster" mode today... You know I love my Mafia guys, who of course are all straight from Sicily. But you can't love Mobsters and Mob Movies without being attached to the Italian singers who are frequently featured playing in the cafes and restaurants and the soundtracks!!! One of my favorite Italian Singers (yes I told you I was quite eclectic but you didn't believe me did you?) is "Louis Prima"... My metal and punk friends, please don't shoot me because I love it all, and I am mainly tied to my Punk and Metal favorites, but I cannot help myself, today 'I've got the world on a string' and I'm collecting 'Pennies from Heaven' listening to the fabuloso Mr. Louis Prima!!! Here he is with a Combination of Songs Mixed in with "Oh Marie" (My Mom's name is Marie, so Here's to Mom!!)

Guruvaar

Image
Happy Guruvaar , That's to say it is "Fifth Day" (if you begin your count on Sunday)... a.k.a. sometimes as "Thursday". :) So TGIAF (that's Thank God it's Almost Friday!) I wore the most annoying Sandals this morning... the kind that "slip on", and are made of a forming, corky-squishy material and I've worn long enough to get a footprint set... so sometimes, when I walk I get those "Foot Farts". Foot farts are made when you get an air pocket under your feet in certain types of shoes, mainly sandals and it makes a sound very similar to when you do Armpit Farts . It only happens on my right foot, however. But, it can be very embarrassing when the office is unusually quiet, and it always is... that is, when you have the foot farts . For some reason, things have been vanishing on me lately. Does this ever happen to anyone else? Just like socks in the dryer... You swear up and down there is no logical way that said object or possessi...

Coffee, Games and Men

Image
Thursday morning began by my waking up earlier than usual. I attribute this to the fact that I took the Tylenol Simply Sleep at 8:00 p.m. instead of 9 or 10 as I had been. The first two nights, I still could not wake up as planned. After taking it at 8 instead, I was successful! So afterwards, I came home and made a healthy low-carb breakfast of Turkey Bacon, and Grade A organic Eggs. As well, I put on a nice pot of strong coffee. This is the first time I have made coffee since I bought my big "ThermoServ" mug, so needless to say I was thrilled to indulge in this climactic event. I proceeded to get ready for work, and after all that effort at making an "earlier" start, getting ready, I still arrived in the parking garage at the same time as I have been... WTF?? Where did I go wrong?? Do I have a built-in time clock now that says, "Nooo, just chill out it is not late enough for you to leave yet... Oh go the speed limit, you've got plenty of time!!" (Wel...

Have A Heart

Image
News and such: My Friend Dinners is in the hospital, seems he's had a minor heart attack. Still, I'm concerned and I know he's been through the mill lately and also has been at it full-speed. 4D! You better recover, I'm thinking of you and your family... Don't you dare get ill on us!! We love our 'Dinners!! (More information is available on Cappy's Blog ). Thanks Cappy for the update! Everyone please say a prayer and send him your positive thoughts. Thanks for reading, as I always appreciate my blog visitors... new and old! If #1 doesn't work, then I must resort to #2... (no poop jokes please! Ok, go ahead!).

Buckets of Rain

Image
Ahh it's thirsty Thursday, and it's been raining through the lunch hours here in Memphis. You all know how much I love rain (not flooding you understand, but a good soothing rain). Thrills me the way the droplets form on the windshield and then roll down, and I see many artistic things in that... just as when I stare at the clouds rolling by. Been like that since I was a child. So here is a photo I took of the windshield on my way back from lunch, cutting through a parking lot, long enough to photograph the rain through the glass, and after I took the photo I happened to notice I caught the McDonald's arches there in the storm... lol This photo I took with Barnze (Am Tellin Me Mam) in mind... he knows how I love the foot snapshots that he always includes when he and Mrs. B are out somewhere, so Cheers Barnze! Here's one for ya. I'm also going to let that foot snapshot be my entry for this week's "Half Nekkid Thursday" since my toes are Nekkid :D I kno...

Thursday for Laughter

Well let me quench you. Originally, Richie showed this video to me. I find it quite funny and I hope you will too... I'm going to have a busy day but I just wanted to share a laugh with my blog buds.
