Tater Red Monday

Image
Officially, I'll start the "Ask AJ" section this Thursday. So go ahead and submit to me anything you would like more information about, that means stories, places of interest or just things you wanna know, and I will address these on Thursdays as promised. Come on, it'll be fun! Just quickly since I haven't had time to post, I'm giving the Tater Reds info... Tater Reds boasts that they are 'your one stop voodoo shop. "It's a Blues shop . . . with an attitude!" Open 7 days a week 12 pm - till we've had enough'. Tater has had this shop open for about 15 years here in Memphis down on Beale St., and it's a very popular point of interest in the historic Beale district. There you will find novelties, voodoo items, as well as Memphis and blues souvenirs and interesting character to say the least. It's a must see if you are ever here for a visit. The sign, as you have all pointed out of course, is the coolest! 901-578-7234 ...

Weekend Drain

Image
So the weekend was o.k., and of course not long enough. Friday night, we had birthday stuff to do, met up with my drummer, his birthday was April 9th, and then a friend of Richie's had a birthday coming up (today actually), so we made an appearance at their birthday celebrations as well. I weathered the crowd well enough, even though I don't usually like crowds with many people that I don't know, it makes me uncomfortable, but I was o.k. Speaking of birthdays, I was just peeking at the April 13 date on Wikipedia , just out of curiosity and saw these notable April 13th Birthdays: Peabo Bryson, Rick Schroeder, and Al Green Peabo , of course everyone should know, if not for romantic nights spent with his albums, then quite a number of songs from the Disney classics such as "Beauty and The Beast", and "Whole New World" from Aladdin. He's done duets with the likes of Roberta Flack, and others. Rick Schroder , who hasn't sang anything that I know of bu...

Dies Lunae

Semi-quick little weekend update(s): Saturday night's gig went off without a hitch on our part, and it was nice to get out for a change and hang at the Stage Stop , and hear some other bands too. As I may or may not have said, I elected to do a keyboardless set due to our time constraints and just to see how much more "relaxed" I could be and I really have to say that I enjoyed it immensely, so I might make some permanent changes. Of course not to leave keyboards out totally, but I might set-up next time where I can run over and play a song on the keys, and then have some where I just sing at the mic and can go back and forth instead of feeling awkward behind the keyhboard during a song where I don't play. So it was quite a late night, as it always tends to be when we gig, but I'm glad this week will be sort of a let up from last week's hectic schedule in preparation for the gig. I can take a deep breath and feel a little lighter (mentally speaking). Other tha...

Moving Along

Image
February is fast approaching, we've only just caught a breath from "The Holidays" and it'll be good ol' Valentine's Day before you know it. I can't believe it, even though we have been staring at the Valentine Vomit in stores since basically Christmas itself. They get such a head start don't they? Every once in a while, when I am feeling up to the challenge, I try to participate in the National Blog Posting Month (NaBloPoMo) theme, if it is one I like. Just a quick explanation of "National Blog Posting Month", it may seem confusing, since the actual month for it is November, but I guess bloggers caught on to it and they just like doing monthly themes. It's just a little extra fun. The basic principle is that if you participate, then you're taking the pledge to blog every single day for that entire month. Each month has a different theme. I decided to give it a go. The February 2009 theme is "WANT". So that should be fun to ...

Every Monday's Nightmare

Image
Is it really Monday again and the work week has really come to slap me in the face? I have got to do something about this reality I created. Why did I not go for the tropical island or the snowy wilderness?? I guess it's meant to be for now huh. Complaint of the Day: People who send me like 20 "Fwd" joke/junk messages, one after the other. I don't really like forwards, but I deal with a few of them. I just think this is ridiculous though, one or two? Maybe... 20 in a row, torture. You're just begging me to "block" you. There goes another one!! Geez... get a life! Well, work is going to be steady and kind of hectic for the next few weeks, so much going on and an office relocation (not sure of exact date on that). I dread it though, I know change is imminent, it usually has the flavor of stale brew (hard to swallow). I guess every change has its pros and cons, but I always seem to experience changes that make everything harder to enjoy. Right now, the wo...

Dear Blog Pals, Friends and Family: I am working hard today and won't be posting a lengthy blog. However, the good news is I have been quite wordy the last few days, so you have plenty to catch up on! Get readin' and commentin!! :) Love, AJ

Back From The Dead

Good morning! That's a simple, nice way of starting out our Monday, right? I was AWOL over the weekend. Yes, it's true. I tried to work on taxes, and still failed. Don't worry, although I hate pressure, I do my best work under pressure, so I'll get them done this week and that's my personal promise to me. It wasn't for lack of trying, I swear. I was stressed to the hilt. I know, I wasn't supposed to let anything get me that way. Still, I will feel much relief just to get them done. So along with that, and spending some relaxation time with my husband, Sunday I was shell-bound and stricken with a "tension headache" I guess?? The kind that makes your whole skull ache, and your eyes can't stand the light... I don't know if it was a Migrane necessarily, but I layed in bed for the bulk of my Sunday, while even the Cat (who's famous for napping throughout the day) gave me some strange and curious looks. Finally feeling some better late in the...

Who Could It Be Now?

Sorry guys and gals, I'm having a bit of hectic going on this morning, If I have time later I might post more in length... In short, I'm working... but I'm a woman... which means I didn't really have to tell you that... we women are ALWAYS working, right girls??? Hehehe.

Shiny Happy Monday

Just skittering about today, I have been pretty busy but I still had time to come in and say Hi-ya to all of you guys. The weekend was pretty nice and all, I did not get a whole lot accomplished, but on the flip side I didn't get into a big guilt trip about it either... I just rolled with the flow. Glad you all liked my photos from the Historic Elmwood Cemetery , I enjoyed my photo-visit there and plan on going back soon... If you want to check it out, the link takes you to their main page, and you can read about it. Maybe even visit it if you ever pop through Memphis (after your maniacally entertaining visit to Graceland of course *rolls eyes*). Oh sweet Jesus!! I almost forgot that Tomorrow is Tuesday, and nearly time for me to submit my photo for the (WWC) "Weekly Word Challenge" brought to us by the wonderful Tink, of Pickled Beef . This week's selection is themed with the words "Urban" and "Country". Wish me luck!! I have nothing very enterta...

Whole Lotta Monday

Image
Mm mm mm.... M&Monday--Oops I think that was a typo, still, don't you want some M&M's now?? They're so chocolaty and delicious! Peanut, Plain or Peanut Butter, even with Almonds now right? Just a delicious little melty bite of chocolate. It truly does melt in your mouth, not in your hand! :) Anyway, chugging through Monday again... the weekend was not too bad. Rockdog didn't have a show this week, but Yas had hers . Unfortunately (and apologetically), I didn't get to listen in... so sorry Yas! Anyways, maybe this next Saturday. Rockdog's cousin, "J-Bone" is going to be testing out drinks, so get over and suggest a recipe, and he might just try it out on the air!! I am unable to think of anything inventive, but I haven't given up hope just yet. So that's Blogtalk radio news, for now. I've heard it said, if you're feeling irritable and everything is going wrong for you on a Monday that you have a "Case of the Mondays"....
