Cracked Eggs

Time to do the after-Easter feelings purge. I enjoyed going to Mom and Dad's, of course, I always do. However, it is stressful in a lot of ways. It seems like Mom and I always end up on the "What's going to happen once your Dad and I are gone" conversation, which I hate and dread, but I know that I have to be an "adult" and keep my head and make some decisions and hear her out. Still, it sucks nonetheless. Then there is Dad's current 'altered state of consciousness'. By that, I mean he's just in his own little world. He gets these weird thoughts in his head, and says all kinds of weird stuff now. He obsesses over certain things too... like if he gets an idea in his head, that's all he thinks about. Currently (well for a while really), he has been completely obsessed with the idea that I should be on "The Grand Ole Opry". He thinks I should go there and sing the song "Daddy's Hands" by Holly Dunn, which I did for hi...

Winter Wonderland

Happy Saturday! I bet you're noticing the 'face lift' right about now... perhaps feeling the chill from just looking at it?? Hope that won't keep you away (especially those of you who enjoy the summer sun). I was just sitting here in the river city, the city by the bluff that never receives enough winter, and thinking about how I doubt I'll see much if any snow this year. We got like one measley snow last year that didn't even last throughout the day. It's not fair at all, and I really am fed up with it. Therefore, I decided that if I could not see the kind of scene I wanted to around my neck of the woods, then I would surely at least be able to see it on my blog. So there you have it, it's officially "Winter" here in The Forrest. Hope it's legible. I think it's actually more legible, and it's nice and fresh, and not as dark but still moving enough with the trees. I shouldn't feel trapped with the 'tree' motif, but for s...

Ferocity of Nature

Sometimes the simplest things can be intricate and dramatic when you simply stop and observe. I went to visit Mom and Dad today and enjoyed some wonderful "Coffee Talk", and while I was there I witnessed a bit of real life nature in action. Just as I was about to walk out onto the front porch, so afraid of wasps as I am, I stopped waiting for one to fly away when I observed it suddenly trapped in the web of a very small spider. I could've opened the door, and continued on at this point, but I was mesmerized by the ferocity of the wasps 'then fate'. She immediately sprang into action, zipping down close to the wasp, but then quickly scurrying back to the top of her web, waiting for the wasp to get caught up enough and in a good position for her to pounce. Back and forth she went until the wasp, in an effort to untangle himself, got even more stuck. So then she zooms down and attempts to capture him. The wasp was significantly larger than this small, but obviously t...
