Facelift

I was just reviewing the blog, and I have determined that if I want to get back into the swing of it, I may well benefit from a "facelift" on the blog, so I will redesign. I think I want to go back to something very simple and easier on the eyes... Stay tuned, I'll see what I can do. **Update** Ok, so I went ahead and went with another template, which was pretty simple and seemed to change the format a little bit, I think I like it for now... I think that the blue is nice, and that the white background with the black text is refreshing and much easier to read. This may be just the spark to get me rolling again on my writing and posting... So we'll see. Thanks to everyone who hovers around and anticipates a post from me. I'm going to try to get back to good ones. Well, it will be a mixture of good ones, and as we all know, some days are just small notes to mention how things are going... But becoming more regular, yes--I can. =)

Though being sentimental is one of my good traits, it is also somewhat of a curse. I'm not quite a "Hoarder" like you see on those scary reality t.v. shows, but I do hold on to wayyy to much useless junk, and disposables. For instance, there are several blogs I have linked that have long moved on from the world of blogging, or have gone private, or even have simply deleted their blog. It is high time that I clean house, and stop wishing that these people would somehow miraculously reappear in the blogosphere. Besides, if they still read my blog, or care then I guess they will show up one day and leave me a comment. So I am cleaning up the link list and if you ever want to link with me, let me know. I'm always glad to make new acquaintances. I do the best I can to get around and visit and I try to leave comments when I have time. I LOVE receiving comments as well, but I don't get very many (much to my dismay). So, Here is a good funny that I saw shared over on BBC...

It Is What It Is

Maybe I had a better night's sleep, despite the bad dream but I feel a little more energy today. The heat of summer seems to take most of my extra energy away. Fall and winter are just my cup of tea, although early spring will do nicely. No, I've never been a fan of the dog days of summer... especially not around Memphis. Just gotta sweat it out. I'm craving warm, flaky biscuits and gravy... I wish I had gone to Mom's last night and I could have eaten that for breakfast this morning. As it stands now, I haven't eaten anything yet, and I should... I've waited too long since awakening. Today I have plans to have coffee with Kim, and I know what you're thinking, 'You just finished bitching about how hot it was and how miserable you were with summer heat, but yet you will go for a coffee date?' Well, the answer is yes... Coffee does nicely any time of the year, it can cool you in the summer and warm you in winter. I got this from my Mother, and it rings...

A.W.O.L.

Hello Blog Family: I know I haven't posted much lately, and have been on a slight "hiatus" (especially for me), but I can't help but wonder where everybody went? Are you mad at me for not being able to make it by your place(s)? Have I turned you, my blog family, away? When times get tough and things get hectic, those are the times I need to hear from you most! An encouraging word, a joke, link to a funny video. Something to let me know that you haven't gone away for good! I promise, I will get around to you very soon and I will read your latest exploits and comment with great eagerness. Hopefully, you haven't forgotten your Aunt Jackie. I thought we had something special! ;) Anyways, on with the show I guess. I have been trying to catch up on the reading of my "Sookie Stackhouse" series of books, albeit in PDF form on the PC versions (E-books). They are pretty good stories. I am glad I read them. Maybe I will discuss these in detail later. The other ...

Ready For A Change

Image
I am in the midst of changing the look of this blog, it is completely drab and I am determined to give it an overhaul. It may take a few days to get through this transformation but I want it to be much different than any of the changes I have put in before. This will not be "yet another" new header design with a switch in background color, but a complete overhaul. I must admit I have been leery of going with such a big change, but it's time. Maybe if I start with a blog make-over, then it could possibly be a lead in to helping me get started doing all the other things I've been putting off. Who knows, it is a start anyways. Therefore, bare with me while I begin this magic face lift. Change is coming!

Let My Voice Be Heard?

Image
Dear Blog Readers, It is April 30th, that means I have SUCCESSFULLY completed the NaBloPoMo challenge for 30 posts in 30 days . The April theme was "Letters", as you may or may not recall. I did my best to make most of my posts about letters, or something related to that... using my own creative license. Thanks to everyone who read with me through April, and reads and comments too, I always welcome newcomers, and want my regular 'blog family' to know how much they are appreciated! So tomorrow begins May and I have decided to try to participate in the MAY edition... May's theme is going to be "Voices". This opens up quite interesting possibilities. I could include sound clips of things, or I could creatively interpret voices in my writings, OR--now get this, ORRR I could actually put in podcasts of my voice reading out my content. So what do you think?? Are you ready for May NaBloPoMo?? It will be "31 posts in 31 Days"... Can I get an A-men?? :...

Time Sure Flies...

Image
When you're having fun? When you're not having fun... when you're not even looking. Time flies (it seems, this time that we ourselves have created and made such a huge part of our reality here). It's so odd though, I was digging through my unorganized junk looking for something in particular, and ran across my journals from when I was like 14-16 years old. It's quite a ride to read this blast from the past. I think I might share some of it, as it is very interesting to see my feelings and points of view from that age, and then the way I seem now. Sometimes I still think I haven't changed that much, except I am a better writer now, and can get my points across with more 'intent'. Maybe that's because my mind isn't flooded with such horrible "crushes" and such as they were when I was that age! :) O.k. this is still in the vein of "Letters" I guess since it is about like "Dear Diary"... So take this little journey back ...

November: National Blog Posting Month!

Image
I know I said I wouldn't feel like posting for a couple of days because of my sinuses, but I was buzzing around others' blogs and I happened by Zamphir Panflutemaster's blog and saw that she happened upon a strange phenomenon. Turns out November is "National Blog Posting Month", and there's a movement of people who are pledging to post every single day in the month of November. Now, I know that I post most days, but then there are days that I don't, and as I have seen my world of bloggers turn upside down and fade in and out, I know it is hard for some of you... many of the faces I have seen since I have been blogging are taking "sabbaticals" and "hiatuses". It's understandable. This world around us is constantly pounding us down, or wearing us out. I feel like doing it sometimes too. But I love to write, I love to talk back and forth with my "Blog Friends", and it's great just to write what you want when you want and...

Only Human

Let me ask you a question (or two, maybe three). Is it natural for us, as human beings, to seek validation and approval from others? We shouldn't care what others think, but sometimes it is hard not to when you admire another for their skills, or you thought they had an awesome personality or were a great person only to lose their respect or approval, for whatever reason. It's hard for that not to hurt my feelings anyway. Why do you blog? Of course you blog for yourself, and you may say that you still blog only for your own enjoyment, or therapy or fun. However, be honest. Every one of us likes comments; comments from your 'blog peers' provide some form of validation, and they are an enjoyable form of banter that may not be necessary, but you come to really appreciate, maybe even slightly depend on. So, when you get few or no comments, isn't it just a little disappointing? So why is it a crime to admit that not only does one enjoy writing for the sake of writing, bu...

Mondays are Funky

Image
Mondays are good, AND bad... I know they get a bad rep because mostly they loom over us like some blood-sucking, brain-eating zombie creature... but they don't have to be all bad. I've had a couple cups of coffee and I'm seeing things through caffeine-goggles... hey man, whatever it takes. Started the day off with the Engine light coming on in my car, so after sorrowfully parting with $50 dollars for 'diagnostic services' to ensure that I wasn't about to have to overhaul the engine, I found out that it was just a loose hose... that's nice. That could have gone towards a tank and 1/2 of gasoline, or a few groceries, but Mr. Mechanic, I ain't mad atcha. Following in with Mr. J about 2 weeks late (due to my lack of motivation and my weak willpower) in eating close to The Anabolic Diet , but I will be making some adjustments to that plan as a female. Also, we won't be eating high-fat meats and stuff, we'll be ingesting healthy "GOOD" fats, ...

A Year In The Forrest

Oh-my-gahhd... has it been an entire year already?? I cannot believe that it has so zipped by! Time flies so fast when we're having loads of fun, huh? You've shared some laughs with me, shared some tears, been heated up about some of my steamy stories (and who could blame you), and been there to lift me when I was down. It's that time to wish "Deep In The Forrest" Happy 1st Anniversary!!! Anniversary's are usually special, full of romance, flowers and we usually hope for it to end with some earthquaking, ground-shaking good sex, right? Well, although it's not THAT kind of anniversary, I still must show my love and affection the only way I know how, and that is through my love of music. Some of you like Rock, some are die hard Punks, some love R&B, Rap, Metal, Soul, 80s, or just about anything that gets you dancing, moshing or making a total fool of y'self! I, myself, am quite eclectic, if I haven't said it before, I'll say it now, I love A...

Positively On My Knees

Image
Tuesday... what can I say about Tuesday? I know Zig always puts up 'TMI Tuesday' posts, which are always interesting to say the least!! Zig and Mrs. Zig must have some saucy stories to tell. Except for the little day-to-day stresses, my attitude is still forging on and on a positive path, so I'm glad about that. I feel like I am finally getting to a point where I am using the past to my advantage, and while I can never forget it or the people in my past, I am trying to take that and fuse it within myself now to optimize the present. Our pasts, no matter how much we might wish that they were not, are an integral part of us. It has made us who we are now. To reject that is to reject yourself, and that's not going to work. So taking it as a real part of me, can assist me in understanding things that I do, and help me move forward. I truly feel that I am beginning to open-up and embrace the idea of the future... let's hope I can keep it up. Speaking of TMI as well as p...

For Those About To Rock

Image
(We salute you!) Apparently, by authority of Her Indoors , I Rock! This is a great honor, and I express my sincere gratitude to you, as well as all of you who made this moment possible! It truly is rare that I win awards, or win much of anything for that matter, but occasionally, the stars align and I do. So, along with the honor of the "Rocking Blogger" award, I also get to award this to 5 more bloggers of my choosing... (which would include Her Indoors, if she hadn't already received this award). However, I couldn't narrow it down to 5 I had to cheat and do 6, and it's my award to give away, so I can do that! :) Congratulations (in no particular order) goes to: Jinks at Jinks Writes and Rewrites . Why? Because she has such an original outlook on life as well as sense of humor. Her blog reflects that. She is always very supportive of me and uplifting, and an all around great friend. So, Jinks, You Rock! Next, our Friendly Neighborhood Rockdog . Why? Of course f...
