The Long Dark Tea Time Of My Soul

Image
Time for a Tea Break, what do you think? The rain has been pouring off and on all week around here. I enjoy the calming effects of the rain, but I am kind of ready for some sunshine. So, it has a somewhat gloomy week. There have been quite a few thoughts floating around in my head as well, so I thought I would try to pin some of these down here if I can manage. First of all, today's the anniversary of Jimi Hendrix's Death. Most of you who know me, know that Jimi Hendrix is a very favorite guitarist and writer of mine. I admire his music not only for the emotion he put into his songs, but for his ability to express things in color and words too. It's just special to me, and I love everything about his music, not to mention the personal significance of it in my life (like for me and Mr. J, etc). I liked him so much of course, you should also know that my motorcycle is named after him. But anyway, nothing much else can be said about the man that hasn't already. He made a...

Cool Your Jets

Right now it is 70 degrees (F), which is roughly 21 degrees (C)... That is a fantastic thing for me. The high is predicted to be about 83 F/28 C, with a low tonight of friggin 57!! (13 C). This is such a dreamy break from the August drought and heat wave we experienced. I'm not fooling myself into thinking that it can't jump back up to 99 again next week, believe me, this is Memphis we're talking about here... but I am definitely enjoying it while it's here. Great weather to just chill-literally! Then when it actually gets so cool that you can't help but feel that energetic "Snap" in your step, and shivers down your spine, breathing in that frosty delicious fall/winter air, that's when I'll really be ready to party! This has just been so nice, forgive me for going on over the weather. It's those little rains we've been having (finally) that we needed so much! Rain always refreshes everything, including my soul... Ahhhhhhhhh. Oh hey, a ques...

Taking Care of Business

News Update: Virginia massacre gunman named It is really easy for us to read these news articles and feel apathetic towards things. We see violence, death and disease every day on our beloved television, and yet sometimes we become so desensitized to it... it's so surreal for us because we're watching it safely behind those little 'windows' to the world (t.v., computer screen, etc). I just happened across the above link this morning browsing my Google Homepage , and although I know that yesterday's horrible Shooting at Virginia Tech isn't exactly breaking news at this point, something just struck me... this morbid, odd feeling. If you look at the photos of the people, the students, the victims, the loved ones of those who were massacred, they began their day just like any other day the same as we did. Maybe they stopped off at the gas station, and maybe had their morning cup of Starbuck's Coffee , they prepared for their day with that same early morning daz...
