Sky Remains The Same As Ever

Oh terrible me, I see that I haven't written since the 1st. I can moan about being busy, but it won't help matters at all. I can moan about being stressed but it will only waste my valuable energy!! :)

So let's see, what's been shakin?

Still doing the Kickboxing class and I really am enjoying it. Whether I get good at it or not, at least it's something I always thought about trying, and did and I'm getting a pretty good workout to boot. Of course I listen to my music as I always do throughout the course of the day, and I get stuck on certain songs... sometimes I think when you hear a particular song over and over again, on repeat in your head, and just can't seem to get rid of it, that there is a message in there somewhere.

For me, the last few days I have been stuck on Audioslave - Doesn't Remind Me Of Anything, which is an o.k. song, but I just don't get it. I haven't heard it lately, unless I just didn't pay attention so I don't know why it is stuck in my head. Check it out.

Monday night, we went to the Hi Tone to see Mono (from Japan). They are basically alot of Ambient music, some heavy parts, but really more sound and emotion... they were quite amazing to see live. Check them out if you like.

So needless to say, I got to sleep way too late at night on Monday (honestly near 4:00 a.m.) and had to be a trooper and still hit the grind stone. But I prevailed, which gave me a little confidence boost and made me think I still had it, I could still stay out all night and make it to work. ha-ha.

I have had a lot of thoughts on the brain and I want to share, but I'm sweaty from Kickboxing and want to take a soak and go to bed on time tonight. Oh yeah, so let me share this before I leave... It's from the Daily OM. I dig it.

The Greatness in Others
Recognizing Our Own Greatness

We cannot recognize greatness in others unless we too posses that same quality in ourselves.

A person who is said to possess greatness stands apart from others in some way, usually by the size or originality of their vision and their ability to manifest that vision. And yet those who recognize that greatness, whether they display it themselves or not, also have greatness within them; otherwise, they could not see it in another. In many ways, the achievements of one person always belong to many people for we accomplish nothing alone in this world. People who display greatness rely upon others who are able to see as they do, to listen, encourage, and support. Without those people who recognize greatness and move in to support it, even the greatest ideas, works of art, and political movements would remain unborn.

We are all moved by greatness when we see it, and although the experience is to some degree subjective, we know the feeling of it. When we encounter it, it is as if something in us stirs, awakens, and comes forth to meet what was inside us all along. When we respond to someone else’s greatness, we feed our own. We may feel called to dedicate ourselves to their vision, or we may be inspired to follow a path we forge ourselves. Either way, we cannot lose when we recognize that the greatness we see in others belongs also to us. Our recognition of this is a call to action that, if heeded, will inspire others to see in us the greatness they also possess. This creates a chain reaction of greatness unfolding itself endlessly into the future.

Ultimately, greatness is simply the best of what humanity has to offer. Greatness does what has not been done before and inspires the same courage that it requires. When we see it in others, we know it, and when we trust its presence in ourselves, we embody it.

Audioslave were vastly underated for me. I think they were really good but sadly the RATM and Soundgarden histories seem to bury in them in some biazzare put down thing and they neve got thought of in the way I think they ought to.

Re greatness stuff...

Once a colleague commented about how I was working with a particular character in our area who was disliked by a lot of people. They were a highly paid consultant that the then boss seemed to favour but he was frankly big headed, pompous and condesending. However he did have a lot of experience - so I smiled listened to his postering but extracted some useful stuff. I pointed out to my other colleague that I can learn from anyone even if some of what I'm learning is what I don't want to be like myself :-)

However I'm struggling a bit at the moment with some of this. My boss (who is away in India for the next 2 months) praised me at the last team meeting he will attend whilst I'm still on board. It somewhat made me sqerm - I don't like being praised it makdes me uncomfortable.

Well I liked a few Audioslave songs, but not in the top of my faves, they're alright tho.

Furtheron, I know it is hard to feel good about ourselves, but I think the main message of the note was that if we are able to see greatness in the others then we have it well within ourselves, the trick is to figure out how to GET comfortable with that. We're all miracles, just from our existence alone. Revel in your greatness, because you rock!!

You Rock as well Furious, you know that though ;)

Well I think that a monkey can put too much music in its head. It clouds it from more important thinking.

But on the bright side I had my last teeth pulled this morning and I'm really happy about that. I always hated those fuckers.

I disagree...

Unless you can show me some of this "important thinking" that you talk about. Waiting on that one ;-)

Congratulations on finally reaching your toothless goal.

ha-ha. This world is really something else...

I guess that you wouldn't recognize the important thinking. :-) You think that Einstein listened to music all the time?

Listen Mr. Negative O'Fart... Einstein was a musician too. He was a violinist, although his tastes were on the conservative side, music happened to be one of his passions.

Those who are not moved by music, in my opinion, have no soul. Music has everything intelligent and important housed within it. Its history of geniuses is extensive...

'Someone' needs to open up a bit more and expand his mind. I've never known someone claiming to be on a mind-blowing spiritual journey to be of such linear and worldly thought.

Just "BE" and let things flow, be happy yourself and don't worry so much about how ignorant, stupid or non evolved the rest of the "monkeys" are.

We all have our paths and lessons to learn while we're spinning around this place, so take care of you.

Live and let live.
